:stoned NFL Conference Championships Colts-Jets, Saints-Vikings - Who Do You Pick and Why?

The match-up in Sunday's NFC Conference Championship games could hardly be better...

The Indianapolis Colts host the New York Giants in the first game (starting at 3pm EST, Noon PST), followed by the Green Bay Packers traveling into the Superdome to take on the New Orleans Saints.

Both games should be outstanding, so who do you pick?!?

I'm going with the Home team in both games. A Colts vs Saints Super Bowl is what I've wanted to see since early in the season, and it looks likely that this is what we will get.

I pick the Colts in the early game based upon them having the clearly superior Quarterback in Peyton Manning, and on how well their defense plays at home. The Jets proved that they have a strong defense in thumping the potent Chargers last weekend, but I just don't see them having the same success against the Colts, with their hurry up offense, and Manning changing plays at the scrimmage line.

The second game should be equally entertaining, and once again, I am going with the Home team. The stats for Brett Favre and Drew Brees this year spell offensive fireworks:

Favre 4,202 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

Drew Brees 4,388 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

For sentimental reasons I would love to see Favre return to the Super Bowl, however, I feel that if the Minnesota coaches try to control Favre, and he gets harassed by the Saints defense, he may fall prey to turnovers leading to defensive points (or at least field advantage) for the Colts.

The Viking's defense is no slouch - therefore, In order to give the Saints a chance to win, the Saints offensive line has got to avoid giving up sacks, and they will need to help create a positive run attack.

My Pick, Super Bowl XLIV =

So what say you?!?

It will be Colts vs Saints here is why. Manning is one of the best if not the best QB ever and will take care of business. Saints and Brees are just fucking awesome this year and the defense is underrated.

Here are Mark Sanchez's stats for the year:

196 Pass Attempts

364 Pass Completions

2444 Passing Yards

53.8 Pass Completion Percentage

6.71 Avg Yards Per Pass Completion

12 TD's

20 Interceptions

26 Sacks

63.0 Passer Rating

I think that Mark Sanchez is a good rookie QB with a bright future, but the future is now for Peyton Manning - here are his same stats from this season:

393 Pass Completions

571 Pass Attempts

4500 Passing Yards

68.8 Pass Completion Percentage

7.88 Yards Per Catch Average

33 Touchdowns

16 Interceptions

10 Sacks

99.9 Passer Rating

Manning and Indy have to be feeling pretty good about this one...

Colts and Saints

I'd like the jets and saints just for the fun of watching a crap team beat the colts.
This is the saints year, favre retired too many times and now must pay.

Would love to Favre beat the Saints and then go to the Super Bowl and beat the Colts. I think he would retire then and go out a champ beating the best 2 quarterbacks in the league. What a way to go out.

My guts saying a Minnesota and Jets Super Bowl tho.

sigh.. First off, Minnesota is playing the Saints, not Green Bay.

Second, Minnesota vs New Orleans is going to be one fucking hell of a game. If you guys think New Orleans is going to rofflestomp on the Minnesota Vikings you need to pass that spliff my friends.

New Orleans, although I love the team, coach, etc. Never had any HUGE competition throughout the regular season, lets face it, they beat a lot of easy teams by only a few points and then got owned by the Cowboys to start off their first loss.

Minnesota has a awesome defense, they of course have brett favre (yeah, he is old, but the mother fucker still has a gun) and some dependable wide receivers and corners, not to mention a decent running game.

The Saints have a OK throwing game, a decent running game and a defense who decides to play football whenever they think the weather is nice outside. Are they a powerhouse? Possibly, but I think the skill level and confidence of Minnesota out weighs New Orleans.

As for the Colts vs New York game. Of course, Peyton Manning and the rest of the team are awesome, their coach has turned out to be great and doesn't fuck around. The Colts show no mercy and step up when need be, but if you all think this is going to be a blowout, you are highly mistaken. Mark Sanchez is coming around and shows very little fear when getting rushed and has no problem trying to run the ball unlike peyton. Peyton rather fall, take the sack (uncommon, because of his line) and move onto the next play, which might be smart due to his skill level and confidence, but new york has a great defense and I have a feeling they are going to cause him to make some big mistakes with the constant pressure they will have on him.

If I was to bet on these games, I would go with New York Jets +8.5 on the under (40) and Minnesota +4 on the over (54). Four team parlay, no fucking around.

(Please do not bet based on my opinions, they are just that, my opinions.)

You cant compare the quarterbacks...Manning is already a shoe in for the hall of fame, I like underdogs, Coach Ryan has the team fired up, and they have confidence. Also they have a good defense and rushing game. They also stopped the colts unbeaten season...even though they played 3rd string guys...a win is a win. No one thought the Giants would run through everyone on the road and defeat the undefeated Patriots in the super bowl.

I don't expect this game close...a blowout win either for the Jets or Colts.

I would like to see the Vikings beat the Saints...

Go Vikes

0 in 4 tries at the Super Bowl. Are best chance was back with Fran Tarkington. Now we have another great QB and the always great defense.

LOL and thanks for straightening out the games. Minnesota has never gotten any respect. Sheesh!

Gonna be fun son!

Tarkington.. Man I'm getting old that would have been like Super bowl like what 8. 1974 was it? Oakland 16 Vikes 7

Think Tommy Kramer would have maybe been in our second try. Favre is the missing link we needed the last 15 years to get back.

I always was a big Saint fan too but today we have to lower the bam on ya's. Going deep. Going long!

Good first game too. Being the biggest Stern fan on the board (Sorry Mutt, I took ya ;) I can't root for the Jets. LOL j/k That will be a great game

Is Artie Lange back yet? I'm always behind a few shows.

Nachos can be good too

Guy I know is watching the game on a brand new 52" Samsung LED (better than LCD)
in HD with Direct TV. He got a deal and it was still like $3000. I might have to get over there for the Super Bowl.

I checked it out and it is absolutely amazing, like in 3D. It is almost as clear as real life.

Can anyone here out do my friend? Or have a friend who can

No it's not me. Wish it was.

Drop your cocks and grabs your jocks - it's game time!!!

And no, young upstart Namath will not defeat the veteran Unitas this time, and Tarkenton will not beat Manning (Archie that is).

BREAKING NEWS: The Giants - Packers will not be facing each other in the Super Bowl in two weeks...I repeat, the New Jersey Jiants will NOT be facing the Green Bay Fudge Packers in the Stupor Bowl in a few weeks:

Bowing and paying respect. Man I thought there was one back in the early days, so like 69 then. Eller, Marshall, Page, Larson. Yes with Joe Kapp. Man so Tark was in the one in 76 against the Raiders (sorry not 74) and I think maybe Page was still around.

Fun stuff.

I have a reason to forget tho. I once sat in the endzone at the old Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis (actually Bloomington) and froze my ass. Playoff game. Vikes got beat by the Los Angeles Rams.

It was cold as fuck, somewhere around 5-10 above but I was 18 and wasn't feeling any pain. Fun as hell. I believ it was 1975. Ring a bell Rams fans. Ya bastards.

Got to say my heart is with the Jets today. Joe Namath! That name says it all. Bowing down again with respect.

Plus I am tired of Peyton winning all the time last few years.

Thank you. I know computer guys like me should not have so much ambiguity. lol

We tend to block them out up here. They were painful.

I would have never though it was 3 of 4 years. And it has been a lot of knocking on the doors the last 32 years since. I know at least a couple championship game losses has to be. Maybe that is where I think Tommy Kramer. I loved him but he never made it back to the big show.

I believe the Saints have lost a few close ones too. Has Archie one the big one. Think he has. Sorry I forget if it aint the Vikes. And then I forget too.

I checked it out and it is absolutely amazing, like in 3D. It is almost as clear as real life.

Can anyone here out do my friend? Or have a friend who can

No it's not me. Wish it was.

Saints - Vikings started out with the big guns blazing, but it has turned into a defensive slugfest...14-14 at halftime.

Geaux Saints!

21 - 21 going into the 4th quarter.

Favre has been taking a battering, but he is an old warrior, and will not give up.

Mad respect for him, no matter what the outcome of this game is...

He's taken one too many now. It's starting to crumble.

lol, what a nazi game... someone really wants the Saints to go to the super bowl. No possession, ball hits the ground, they have all the time in the world to review it and they take two seconds to say it was a completion? Give me a break.

I really don't care who wins this, but I like to see fair football and this definitely ain't it...
