PR doesn't mean shit. I don't care is it's 10. $800 a month is $9600 a year. So nearly 4 years to get your money back? Sorry no fucking way.

800$ per month - from Adsense.

Think of it this way. They're getting a weak ass CTR and still pulling $800/month. That's an awful lot of Adsense clicks. What are those advertisers paying for his clicks? I mean, if you're running Adsense on a site, it's more than likely because you can't convert your own traffic. If advertisers are consistently buying that traffic, and they are making money off it, this could be a valuable buy. I guarantee the advertisers are spending far more than that $800 to make it. Someone who knows that niche probably just scored themselves a nice money maker with a bit of work, just by cutting the middle man out and snaking a good source of traffic. They have $31k to drop on a site, they obviously have some idea what they are doing...

Whatever the case, I would bet the farm that it wasn't an affiliate who made the purchase, but an advertiser with promotion of a specific product in mind.

Depends on the trend of its traffic and conversions. If it shows a lot of upward revenue mobility in the future, why not, right?

It was for two sites

With the site I'll give you for FREE the site pureguitar.com - it has the same concept about 12,000 video lessons for guitar - it has about 400 people per day and has a lot of potential

QUOTED FOR TRUTH. Good example: Blogcatalog.com was bought off Sitepoint for, if my memory serves me right, $40K. Morphed into quite a vibrant blogger community based on existing registrations and traffic base.

If you have a great idea for the site and it does get 6 k uniques then why not?
For all you know they may be able to up the revenue by 10 times!
Why start a new site and have the competition if you can just buy them out, assuming the competition is nothing like adult in that market?

are you aware that some people may have a business plan that goes far away what the site currently makes? Just mentioning it because that concept seems to sound absolutely strange to many of you

Without digging too far, I can see them offering premium area access with specific lessons for $30 a month. By making 1 sale a day (and I'm not even counting rebills or recurring income), they would be making $1700 a month and recovering investment in 18 months. Let alone recurring, additional ads income, upgradings, instruments market place, auctions and so on. And they don't have to invest in content, traffic, design, coding if they don't want to. It took me less than 2 minutes to realize that, I guess the buyer thought it way longer than me before investing 30k

Flippa has got a bit stupid lately very low income and massive asking price. Another domain/site that was for sale recently was dmca.com but i see the vaule in that.

The site has one stream of income, Adsense. Pretty crappy revenue stream. Someone most definitely has a plan...

seriously, where did you get this? Really hilarious, according to you, Yahoo with a market value of 50B+ would cost me only 2.5B or I could buy Mattel for... wait... they'd pay me $48.7B according to your system! I'm RICH!!!!!!!

there's been plenty of bad investments, doesn't mean the investor doesn't know what he's doing. everyone fucks up. could this buyer be fucking up? sure. but for a site at auction to reach $31k, there's more than one buyer who sees a potential earner, and as far as i'm concerned, that site isn't being monetized worth a fuck. someone who knows the traffic should be able to pull a lot more than whatever buddy earned off adsense with it.

come back to the site in a month or two, and we'll know what the gameplan is. i highly fucking doubt it's "ride out the adsense earnings"

People stop paying attention to how many months revenue etc, its does not mean a god damn thing if the buyer has a good plan with the domain.

If he does not then LOL, but ....

Sites on flippa don't really go cheap. But if the site is stable 3 years~ isn't a bad investment/return. I've done it, and it has turned out well, but you have to be pretty sure as things on the net can change fast. Ultimately though, the 10 months revenue valuation a lot of people spout is a load of shit. Who in their right mind would sell a decent/stable site for 10 months revenue? I wouldn't.
