What do you think about a Super Bowl in NYC? - GoFuckYourself.com

The 2014 Super Bowl looks like it's going to be held in the new Jets/Giants stadium, outdoor stadium. February, game starts at 6 pm or later - temperature would be 20 degrees or less, snow/sleet very possible.

i love football played in the elements BUT we are talking about a championship game. you could have a great team built on speed with a great passing attack and if the weather sucks they are fucked - so you could have the best team in the NFL done in by weather.

are you for or against Super Bowls played in cold weather cities outdoors?

I think judging the past 4 Januarys we've had here it wont be too bad. For NYC it would be a great thing to happen. I know I would work my way into getting tix somehow.

At the same rate, would a team like Green Bay or Buffalo have a disadvantage in a domed super bowl if they were playing someone like Indie or Dallas?

first Buffalo is at a disadvantage no matter what, just cuz they're Buffalo.

and if a team is built for cold weather outdoor games then yes they are at a bit of disadvantage when playing in dome stadium. The Saints are built for dome stadiums and they won the Super Bowl.

Yea i was speaking hypothetically, i dont expect to see Buffalo even sniffing a superbowl for a very long time

It's not just the SuperBowl any more. While I'm with the game purists, the reality is that the SuperBowl has become the MoneyBowl. It's not just the game, but everything associated with it in the preceding week, incredible amount of tourist and fan dollars. A lot of outdoor events, e.g., the NFL Experience, would be difficult if not impossible to hold in a cold (potentially snowy) outdoor milieu. Doubt ppl will spend as much a week before the SuperBowl in NJ / NY given the typical February weather in that area vs. NOLA, TX, AZ or FLA?

I think any city with an NFL team should have a shot at hosting the superbowl. Domed or not. If you want warm and comfy, stay at home. A true fan will sit out in the cold for their team

I think bad weather would give both opposing teams the same disadvantage. Unless one of the teams trained in bad weather and knows the bad weather better than the other team.
