Bagged Milk!!!

http://web.archive.org/web/200211221...articles/milk/

The first time I heard of this back in like 02 or so I didn't believe my canadian friend and thought he was just fucking with me. Every single aspect of bagged milk boggles my mind and is extremely hilarious to me for some reason.

Yea milk in bags was one of the weirdest things about living in Canada. They must of phased that out by now though surely? Mind you it took quite some time to phase out the mullet.

Milk in bags is the ONLY way to go.

Milk in cartons tastes like CARTON.

"Wow gross, that milk tastes like container" he exclaimed to his pet seal.

Also, on a psychological level, tell me they aren't the perfect 'fun bags'.

No wonder we love them.

In high school we had milk in plastic bags, reminded me of breast implants.

A friend in Toronto I was talking to earlier was so shocked and amused by the fact that most of the rest of the world does not purchase milk in bags that he called his wife to tell her, apparently ignorant of this fact until today.

Even though my parents are in Pennsylvania they get bagged milk. I am sure it is a farmer's market thing around there. They get orange juice that way too.

I have seen one store chain in the UK sell the jugs but not the bags. What's the point in that?

im rocking bagged milk right now. what do other people do? big plastic jugs? you can still get milk in big plastic jugs but they are typically only available in convience stores like beckers or macs. cartons are fine if you don't have a family or drink much milk...when you can buy a 3pack of 1 litre milk bags, i'd rather do that than 3 1 litre cartons.

That is where I have seen the jugs but never the bags. Not in my branch anyway. My mom used to buy the bags because it was easier to stack in the freezer for the winter since they live in a place that gets snowed in.

I've never heard of bagged milk either. Here we only have it in jugs mainly or you can get the organic fancy milk in the white cartons.

I don't like milk in bags, but the point of it is that it immensely reduces the amount of waste in a landfill.

You can squish the bag up into the size of a golf ball, compared to a large plastic container that takes up a lot of space.

I haven't seen cartons in years and we've never had bags in Western NY, as close as we are to that Ontario faggotry someone already mentioned.

this thread is hilarious.. i didn't even know that bags were centralized in canada mostly.. I've been drinking it in bags my whole life...(circa '77) I shop in the US all the time, i just didn't notice if they had bags or not...

we have jugs too, but bags are far more convenient and have zero after taste at all. Its like drinking coke in glass bottles apposed to plastic or cans, you notice the difference...

Canada Pavilion at Epcot Coffee Crisps and Test Track were my sole reason to visit the park.

I hate bags of milk. I get my gallon jugs at Mac's convenience store instead. Apparently bags of milk are only really prevalent in Ontario and Quebec.

I remember the bags of milk in the milk cartons in the coolers at the store when I was little (Vancouver area). Haven't seen them lately, but I assume they're still in the rural areas. I prefer milk in bottles, but it's a bit expensive and you only get single litres that way.

And when that fresh jug is gone, you throw it away (or recycle your it).

Imagine buying a 2l of Coke, then storing it in a plastic jug in the fridge, and drink it over the next couple days. It would wreck it (forget the carbonation, I mean the taste of it), it would taste like 'fridge' or 'container' not like a freshly poured glass of soda.

Not that much to explain, it's the taste. Buy a plastic jug, like a 2l juice jug, and drink milk out of it for a week or two and then report back.

You will taste the difference.

You still have to get the milk to the house somehow. See my post above re: landfill wasted space.

Must be another thing out east, because I haven't seen boxes of Old Dutch in years.
