St Kitts Tells Me I Need My Passport Noterized??

So I call my bank, post office and they have never heard of a passport being noterized EVER and will not do it. I call St kitts and they told me I need my passport noterized by a lawyer..I call my lawyer he tells me what do they mean? St kitts tells me I need to get my passport copied and then noterized the copy?? My lawyers secretary says that might be illegal. She has to ask my lawyer and I'm waiting on a call back.. This is fucking rediculous

i already posted on a similar thread about having the same issue ...
no one wanted to notarize the copy , it is not illegal it is just apparently not a common practice in US, it is done all the time where i come from ...
i wrote on the copy something like '' i sware this is a valid copy of my pass'' and they notarized my statement and signature basically
try that

It doesn't sound illegal to me. A passport is an international ID and they're just trying to see if the copy you're going to send them is a valid copy.

I'm not a lawyer, I just play one on TV.

You might have better luck if you used correct spelling.

I wish it was this easy but they will not accept it unless a lawyer noterizes it AND a lawyer signs it and I sign it.

As someone above suggested, make a copy of your passport, add a statement like "I attest under the penalty of perjury that this is a true copy of my valid passport." Do not sign it until you are in front of the notary. Notary's are everywhere ... even a lot of liquor stores have one. Your state may have a directory of them online. I've known notary's to charge as little as $2 to $5.

In some jurisdictions you can use notary public as well to notarize your copy. Some charge anywhere from $10.00 - $50.00 to put their rubber stamp on it.

You can get your passport legalized by an embassy / consulate (if you are abroad) or notary. Nothing weird here, every notary will know what you mean.

I have the same and must verify my account.. not a big deal but my passport expired this week and they ask a lot. And it's gonna take another 5-10 days after they get all the documents...

"Attach a statement explaining source of funds for all funds currently on card", they want just a general statement about where the funds come from or do they need to know every single sponsor/program for every single payment?!

Whats the big deal? Many companies(banks, brokers, etc) ask for it, its pretty much a standard thing. If your lawyer never heard of such a thing...well, replace him quick, until you need him badly and his stupidity will be dangerous for you.

Notarizing a passport copy is a pretty common thing... Hell I had do it a couple of weeks ago for something unrelated.

When Epass asked me for documents, I didn't bother with my drivers license (which I no longer have, anyways), passports, or health card copies. I just hit my lawyer up.

He whipped me up an official document, and I uploaded it to Epass. Good to go. Didn't charge me for it, either. He even notorized my utility bill copy and the copy of my CC they requested.

[QUOTE=baddog;17580274]Are you ESL or no? If so, I apologize to you, if not . . .QUOTE]

Actually yes, i am Romanian and have been living in US for 4 years ... besides that i dont pretend to give legal advice on here, i simply share my experiences and whatever worked or not for me since this whole mess started..

.i have been making sure to finish my statements with '' this is what i was told''; ''this is what i did'' or ''i could be wrong'' which means what i say it is obviously based on my own research and if i find something that works for me i am always happy to share it with others... and they can take from it what they want...

For the people that have been asked to send in verification documents, did the bank contact you or did you contact the bank? I haven't heard anything, does that mean my card should work today? Or do you have to contact them to get the card activated?
