Any suggestions for dual monitor software

I just added a second monitor and I see a bunch of software out there that helps control and customize them. Any suggestions on which works best?

If I remember right, windows can handle up to 9 monitors, didn't know you needed more

Most graphics cards come with a software for this. That is usually what I see works the best. I mean, what is there to do. Have them both working and match the resolutions. Pick a primary and secondary. Not much more to do after that. All of this you can do in Windows. But again, most video cards come with some kind of software these days.

I use this one. http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/

Sorry I read your post wrong. I was thinking of controlling two computers with one mouse/keyboard. Usually your video card software will supplant the OS for managing your monitors.

If you have a decent video card you really don't need extra software anymore. A few years back I used ultramon, which was good.

The latest ATI Catalyst software seems to do everything I need now.

I have an Nvidia card that is pretty good. I am running Vista right now, but will probably be upgrading Windows 7 after the new year.

The install went smooth and getting them both working was a breeze. My main interest was to get a toolbar on the second monitor and be able to change a few custom things like wallpaper and stuff like that. The monitor actually came with something called Multiscreen, but it seems to crash after running for about 30 minutes.

I downloaded Ultramon and will try that. Thanks to those who suggested it.

I also read about a program called Display Fusion. I might try it out to and see which one I prefer.

+1 for Ultramon but really, with Windows 7... I don't even use it any more.

What can Ultramon do that your graphics card can't?

I don't see the reason to have to use something else if your graphics card supports it. What am I not seeing about Ultramon?

Ultramon is OK, but it doesn't have the option to change the location of items on the second toolbar.

This was really annoying for me, so I now use Display Fusion. You can move stuff at will on the bottom bar, great for keeping everything organized.
