Many of these apply to me but here's one that I think would apply to many people:

When you build your first website or blog you start checking your stats at least daily (some people go further and check them hourly?.). Every new visitor is a joy, and a sign that you are doing something right.

The problem with this is that you are wasting time. Every minute you spending checking your stats is one fewer minute you have to work on actually get more visitors. On top of that daily fluctuations might give you the wrong idea of what is going on.

My take on this:

The upside is that seeing positive changes in stats gives you a "push" to do your daily tasks but it can turn into a feedback loop and you no longer get motivated. Maybe by spacing out the "push", its impact on your productivity will be preserved.

I only check my stats once a day. Actually for new sites, once a week.

i check stats on new sites but only to see if/when google has picked it up

past that i may check the stats on a site every couple of days at most. usually it's closer to once a week. i like to look at several days/weeks at a time to get a more general idea of whats going on
