Help me make my wordpress site into a blog..

Yes, I know I know wordpress is a blog

BUT

My site isn't functioning as a blog right now.

Here.

Let me explain my site.

I have a static home. I have created pages which link to various areas of the site - About us, prices, opening hours etc. I even have a shop.

I don't have a link to a blog section.

My pages all have separate categories.

For example. A page may be about a new kitchen table and would look like this: http://www.awesomekitchentables.com/ kitchen/sexy-kitchen-table-2017

I sometimes write POSTS. These tend to be about one off things or events that are happening. These would look something like this: 400 Bad Request base-units

I would like to put these posts withing a blog section. How do I do that?

If I understand correctly, your Wordpress site is using a static homepage, and you're using pages for your products.

Now you want to add a "blog" section to your site, where your posts would be available.

If that's the case, you can follow these steps:
Adding a blog section to Wordpress

These articles should help you with some other Wordpress concepts in case you might need a refresher:

Difference between Worpress pages and posts

Difference between Wordpress' static homepage vs regular homepage

Do you want use landing page as homepage. It is very easy to do, just create a new page and you will need to do a few changes in the settings. The link that FetishGimp gave you will help you.

You just create a blank page called blog and set it in here: Screenshot by Lightshot and it should do the trick...

so that blog posts will appear at site.com/blog

Umm how would I then get the posts to appear their? surely they would default to the position they currently in.

set it as the post page in settings, so /blog/ page will list your posts

Bump.

I have created a blank page called blog which is now in my menu but it's blank when I open it. How do I get those posts to point to the blog page now?

In Wordpress, under "Settings" > "Reading" you set "Front page" to whatever page you're using now, and for "Posts page" choose your Blog page.

This doesn't work for me.
My current homepage isn't a wordpress generated page (not by me at least.)
The page is part of the theme which just has various editable services etc.
