Who works 9-5 anymore??
Joey Gabra: The Cost of 9-to-5 - The typical eight hours of operation a day is an outdated practice that only retains a foothold in the ?normal? worker?s life.

I've always worked more than eight hours a day. Of course there are weekends too.

A typical week for me is 50+ hours but they are all over the place. I was skyping with Andreas from The European Summit at 2am this morning.

Interesting theory. We are all different, and it all depends on the type of work. I sleep approx. 7 hours a day, work 7-8 hours or less and manage to do it all. Sometimes it is possible to finish everything in 3-4 hours, depending on the circumstances. I wouldn't want to work more and spend less time with the loved ones just to make a bit more money, if that is the point of the article.
Also, just because someone works more doesn't mean that he/she is going to accomplish more and be more satisfied or happier in life in general, or more successful than the competitor, again, if that is the point... unless you are a workaholic, but then you just work in order to work. For me, not sleeping regularly and working all day long represents a pretty low-quality life, but of course there are days when it's necessary to spend all day in front of the pc to finish some task. Luckily, not often.

I work from 730/830 to around 5 Monday through Friday. Quite often, I'll work a half day on Saturdays. I take calls and do emails at all off hours and always in times of specific need. When I travel to conferences.. like using last month's LA and Vegas conferences as an example, I'm always on. I had an 11 day stretch of 18-20 hour days. Anyone can say it's easy to be social and party.. but it's not, at least I don't find that any such stretch is. Being hyper social at such great lengths uses a ton of energy in every. These are the choices that I make for me. I am fortunate to have incredible flexibility. I also take a solid hour for lunch almost every day. There is absolutely truth to the notion that working more hours can ultimately be more, less or "same" productive. Ideally, time spent working is time spent working hard and smart. My typical pace is working hard and fierce, especially when it comes to administrative tasks- I work them like I hate them with a vigor to complete a job well done and start the next task.
Now I will go read Joeys article. Yay gabs and Jay! Brad

I work when i wake up, that can be at 7:00 or, 10:00 or 12:00 or even 13:00. Look at the mail and check sites what needs to be done daily. Than working on new things or repair things. But when i don't want, i just do nothing, or go to the beach and than work in the evening or at night. Sometimes i like to work more in the night, other periods i go up early. I work more than 50 hours, for me is no difference between weekend or weekdays. Many times i don't even know what day it is. Depends which country i am and the work. Doing that since 25 years. If i set on an alarm i wake up bad. I hate alarm clocks.

I'm still in the full time rat race, despite my websites doing well these days. I can't cut the cord just yet. Not sure if I want to. I've found that the benefit to me being home all day doesn't equal a better performance on my websites, just more time wasting. Truth is I do not work harder than if I worked a normal 8-10 hr factory shift. It's always about 1-3 hrs a day online.

I don't. LOL
But when I employed people I had to work 9-5. Most employees have to have that structure. I see a lot of one man bands here. They can be more flexible. |

9 to 5 is flourescent lights and cubicles? And yeah Paul, they need structure and get butthurt if you don't say "good morning!" cheerfully. No thanks.

The best way to grow a business is to employ people to do what you can't or what is too menial for you.

Range is always half hour. If you are in hard sleep, it will activate later.
