BREAKING! Citigroup bans sales of guns for under 21!

I disagree.

Semi-automatic and automatic should be banned for under 21 but not regular guns or rifles IMO. What do you think?

Citigroup Becomes First Major Bank to Restrict Gun Sales

Citigroup Inc. plans to prohibit retailers that are customers of the bank from offering bump stocks or selling guns to people who haven’t passed a background check or are younger than 21.

The bank is imposing the restrictions on companies that use it to issue store credit-cards or for lending and other services, according to a memo Thursday. The lender also barred the sale of high-capacity magazines.

“The policy was designed to respect the rights of responsible gun owners while helping to keep firearms out of the wrong hands,” Citigroup Chief Executive Officer Mike Corbat said in the memo to staff. “It is clear to me that most people believe there are areas of agreement and practical changes we can make to find common ground.”

I am so tired of this argument.

A local church just announced they are they are buying "safety devices" for my kid's high school. Wonderful. They just built a new wing full of classrooms with lots of windows that open up to the parking lot. Magical. Let's lock the fucking kids in the classroom so the gun man can shoot them all through the window. You know, just like shooting fish in a barrel.

We don't need to ban automatic rifles. We need to ban assault weapons. There is a difference between a rifle and an assault weapon - it's how you handle it. It's unlikely that someone is going to walk into a classroom with a long barrel rifle and start shooting people at close range - it's not a close range weapon. You don't fire a rifle from the hip - but you can with an assault weapon.

This is common sense here. We need to ban assault weapons, tighten restrictions on who should buy them (If we cannot trust someone to drink we shouldn't trust them with firearms), and we need mental health protections. I do not understand why anyone would be against better gun control. If you don't have mental health issues, don't have a history of violence, and no issues with the local police you are fine. AND if you are on a no fly list you shouldn't be allowed to own firearms.

Common sense.

In before chumpanzees crying how their 2nd amendment rights are being violated!

I'm for banning the sales of guns to under 21. With a waiver to those who are under 21 and in the military

Here in Oregon, there is a group gathering signatures to get an initiative on November's ballot that will basically ban everything but bolt action rifles and revolvers. At its core, any gun capable of holding over 10 shots will be banned. Apparently, there is also a provision in it that certain gun will have to be turned over to the police as well (I'm not sure which guns).

I'm confident they will get enough signatures to get it on the ballot, but I don't think it will pass. If it does, Oregon will be the new battleground for gun owner's rights.

In California they are going to have problems with that under the Unruh Act which prevents this type of discrimination.

When Congress fails its duty to lead and do what the people want, others will step in and fill that vacuum.

I think that only in America would this be a debate. Of course, they should be banned. The Constitution has been easily changed on other matters so why not this one?

Why does common sense need to be debated?
