My current doctor, and one before her, are the best doctors I've ever had.

I had a shitbag corporate doctor once when I was young and worked for the cable company.

I had a shitbag corporate pervert doctor when I was young and worked at the LA Times. He would do physical exams on guys & girls and try to get the guys hard and girls nipples hard. He was fired after enough people complained.

Why do you think all doctors are shitbag?

I went for my evaluation for service dog. I told her I wanted to focus on my physical disabilities and not my mental ones like anxiety and depression. She told me she could refer me to a psychologist and get me on medication. I told her I didn't believe in pharmaceutical medication.

She left the room and didn't come back. I was expecting to go somewhere where they could give me x-rays and an MRI. She just ditched me. I didn't know my appointment was over until the girl that weighed me and took my blood pressure came back and told me.

After my contract ran out it only took me two fucking days to sell it on Zillow for what I was asking. Buyer paid all the closing fees. I still got calls about it for over a year. Honestly it's good that you found out what shit she was at this stage. You're great at doing research so you'll find the right doctor soon be your own best advicate, you know what you want & need.

I tend to agree. I just went through major surgery and most the docs are dicks. my orthopedic surgeon is super cool though and a fantastic surgeon. My infectious disease doc is really good too. but the ER docs are all dicks. the PCP is a dick and my endocrinologist is also a dick.

and let's not forget cunty nurses. wow.

Just about every week I see a doctor. Tomorrow is podiatrist for cutting toenails. If you just lightly touch my feet I scream in pain, but she grabs the feet hard.

Next week is neurologist. Very nice and competent but believes less meds are better. Then offers to increase my Morphine by 50%.

I dropped my PCP after she put me on the wrong antibiotic for MRSA.

My sciatic doctor insists on surgery. I refuse and he says I'm not in pain. He can't guarantee he won't sever the spine but I should trust him.

My new retina specialist did a half-assed exam and didn't inform me a year ago I showed signs of glaucoma. When inspecting my eye, she claimed my detached retina surgery was done sloppily. Every eye doctor has commented on how well it was done by the head retina surgeon at Mass a Eye & Ear.

How about the doctor who diagnosed pain behind my shoulder as gout? I have no memory of it but two days later I was admitted to the hospital and they drained two gallons of fluid from one lung.

The doctor who told CNAs to be turn me every hour when first paralyzed. He didn't say to see if I was wet. Four days later I had a large wound on my back so deep you could see to my spine. I still need plastic surgery on it. Six months of pain until it healed.

They give service dogs for loneliness but disabled people need to beg for years and suffer. You need to find a better doctor who understands your needs.

I couldn't imagine going through all of that. I have a high distrust of doctors. I think I'd choose a .45 rather than going through all of that. They had my parents on so many meds that they got sicker instead of better. They both developed cancer but that wasn't what killed them.

When in the hospital my dad got potassium poisoning three times before he died of a heart attack. My mom also got potassium poisoning and died of a heart attack while in the hospital. I'm almost positive this is something that happens regularly and not a coincidence.

Western medicine is not what it used to be, mask symptoms but don't fix the cause.

They're as crooked as the politicians.

I try to respect a doctor when respect is earned, but apart from that I always inform them if I'm not satisfied with something specific and that's all the time.

Unfortunately it goes in, in one ear and out of the other, I guess that's what it's like to be when you're inflated

I see doctors and nurses as dumb libs, they all speak the same language and NO ONE thinks on their own.

Most of the time I don't get along with them. They don't act like professionals in the meaning they went to med school and studied 5-6 years, only to fuck around.

I know there are good doctors around but I don't happen to see any of them.

If you have anxiety problems and depression issues that goes to the top of the list with any doctor. The second you dismissed their suggestion is the same second they will assume you don't want to be helped. "i don't believe in pharmaceutical medication"? that's their queue to leave the room. That is a pretty ignorant thing to say honestly and i'm very critical of doctors myself... Not wanting to be on medication is normal, much better than the opposite, but dismissing the entire practice of medicine? Yeah, no doctor will listen to anything you have to say after that...

Next time, if you want them to focus on your physical pains instead don't mention mental issues and be specific as to what is bothering you the most. They aren't going to listen to a grocery list of ailments so be selective. If you have to go back for something else do it the next time the next week or something. Also, don't make suggestions if you want something, that's a good way to get ignored. Word it in a way so it is their suggestion. Or suggest it in the form of a question instead. At the end of the day, no matter how smart you think you are they have medicine down a lot better than you or any of us so listening to their ideas every now and then is normally a good idea. I do a lot of my own research myself and have pretty much self diagnosed a number of issues i have had over the years but I at least confirm it with them in a subtle way as to not insult them and this seems much more effective. I'm also wrong sometimes! so they do the tests and let me know for sure either way.

As for the anxiety and depression? Do not ignore that either... That is not small time shit and can weigh down and sink the best of us...

Sadly, the profession we, the laymen, know the least about, is the one we have to take the most control over for the sake of our health. Your job is to, step by step, build a team of doctors whose values align with yours.

If you pair the above with a three-pronged approach (1: hedge against serious illnesses through lifestyle changes and specialized insurance policies, 2: a team of western medicine professionals, 3: a team of alternative medicine practitioners) you will have done more than most. Dive into biohacking to level up for bonus points.

this is the advice most often given however, it's much different when applied. I've had docs (and nurses) mock me for mispronouncing medical terms when I asked them questions about a condition I have. I've had a doc point to my "smartphone there" and do my own research on my condition.

while we are supposed to assume management and responsibility for our health, docs and nurses in reality are against that, in my experience. shutup and do as we tell you is the prevailing attitude.

This is a true story that happened to me 2 years ago, got an appointment. Before this meeting I had low expectations because of what I mentioned earlier. Anyway I educated myself on the issue before meeting up.

I meet a doctor specialized in general medicine, I could quickly see they had no interest in trying to help me. Which is why I took over the discussion and presented my theories. The doctor said to me translated from my own language:
