:mad Do Not Do This, Domain Shopping Mistake

Hey gang,

This is just something I have noticed, If your ever considering on buying a Domain name and want to see if its available, DO NOT search the domain in domain purchasing websites such as Go Daddy.

I have had some ideas for some Domain names that I was not entirely committed on buying, but wanted to see if they where available. And so I went to Go Daddy and typed them in and most where available.

Now because I was not serious on buying at the time I did not buy, but fast forward a week or 2 and I thought you know what I'm gonna buy one of them, only to be disappointed that that some one bought it.

So I thought oh well fuck it I'll buy one of the other ones I also had searched to see if it was available.

I kid you not, each domain was suddenly bought and for sale, there was at least 10 I had searched, even some dumb ones I was not serious about.

I have been trying to think of a logical explanation of why they all where suddenly bought and I think that there may be some kind of behind the scenes shit that Domain Flippers are tapping into with these domain selling websites.

Domain Flippers are able to see what domains are being searched, which allows them to buy them and then re-sell you them at a profit.

So if i searched a domain in godaddy now like http://www.bighairyfatjuicyballsack.com/ I bet you in a week or 2 it will be gone.

Lesson to learn here is, if you want to see if a domain is available DO NOT search in websites like GODADDY, just enter in the url field directly.

Please don't jizz all over this thread in the comment section.

Its common. Called 'Front Running' they take advantage of a 5 day registrars 'Tasting' period rule. After a week or so, they are usually available again.

what ^^ said.

there are shady registrars like godaddy and few others who does this.,

for 5 days they can hold on to avialbale domain without paying for it.,

keep checking on sites like namesilo.com , it will be available soon.

<troll>
1) write a script, to make multi word combinations ., e.g. tunarice, friedchicken, friedchickentuna
2) let it run on godaddy search.
3) ???
4) profit.

for searching domains use internet.bs and you will not get shafted like this...I would also recommend them for domain names they have been around forever and offer decent service...8.45 .com and free everything...

I bet any urls searched on any of these sites are pre bought straight away if not purchased there and then...

for hope the searcher comes back, as you did.

Amazing stuff, good business

When all you fu*** will understand one thing?
Never buy anything from Godaddy, do not even open their site.
How difficult is it?

No, it is technically impossible. No registrar will allow such an operation because it would block the registration of domains.
Every day, millions of domains are searched for, new, used or existing.

I have bought thousands of domains through GoDaddy for over a decade without encountering the problem you describe. I bet there's more to your story. How did you compile your want list? Was it a list of expired domains that recently dropped? Are these domains related to newsworthy events? Are you doing searches for keywords on Google that end up displayed in Adwords keyword suggestions?

I'd be more worried about domain appraisal sites. Don't use em until you've already bought the domain. Be disappointed after.

shady old practice which obviously works for them in some cases, it would be strange that they didn't use it.
