Lets do some math here, mate. A McDonald's cashier in the US gets paid 1750 bucks a month. You're gonna pay 2 bucks for 1k characters which is roughly equal to 200 words in English. So some copywriter from the US or UK would have to write 175k words each month or 43K words a week or roughly 6 thousand words every single day including weekends to earn the same amount of money as a cashier in McDonald's. In other words he/she would have to write a huge long article about the same kind of shit every day. It's hard extremely boring work. Harder than you can possible imagine. Don't be so naive. No American would agree to do it for you. Either you have to pay much more or just forget it.

When you convert this to USD per word, it is roughly 1 to 1.5 cent/word which is quite standard, I would say, if we're talking about writing simple porn descriptions in KVS, for instance. If it requires more clicking, taking screenshots (time), then this rate could be a bit higher. Good luck. Plenty of good writers on GFY. ;)

Falsely gracious copywriters - you kind of need our help to grow your business - without writers on some level, your business is NOT going to thrive without that... so demeaning a potential applicant is off-putting.

Can you just clear this up for me? I would think that all involved should feel good knowing you have a great respect for one another... shouldn't we start off with mutual respect for the rolls you have?

Everything is more than appropriate. I see no reason why unscrupulous copywriters should have success here, pointing to their supposedly impeccable reputation.

I had a small order and negotiated it with ContentBay. I split the order into parts and we started working together. ContentBay did 2/3 of the total work and then told me his time was taken up with other orders for the next 2 months. I suggested that the copywriter put me in line, that is, take the remaining videos to work in 2 months. But Contentbuy just stopped responding to my messages. I found myself in a quandary. The thing is, my order has complicated rules. It's not profitable for a copywriter to learn these rules with a small amount of work. If I had known that Contentbuy would only do some of the work, I would have continued my search for a copywriter.

This reminded me of the situation when I booked a hotel for 2 days . 1 day before the weekend, the hotel receptionist contacted me and informed me that there had been a monstrous mistake. Turns out my room was occupied for 2 weeks, including the days I had chosen. I understand that everyone wants to make more money. But should such dirty tricks be used?

I'll also add that some participants in this discussion thread have expressed a willingness to work with me, but have stopped responding to my emails even before receiving a test assignment. How should I treat such copywriters? I viewed this resource as a place where people look for a service provider and give feedback on the quality of that interaction. A place where people praise each other for no reason can't be a good tool for finding a specialist.

Ok, that explains it completely -

As an EMPLOYEE, I've had similar things myself.

1) I have been contacted before and asked to do some sample work and when that task seemed to take some time, I was never paid. Seems that if I am to do any kind of work, sample or otherwise, I deserve to be paid for it - at the very least, an offer of payment. Sometimes I will just do it and if it was a respective no need for my services, I'll just no accept the pay - however, if they want to be a jerk with me, and I don't even get an offer of pay, I just let it go and remember that name.

2) That hotel thing, that's the fastest way for me to lose my temper - I can handle anything as long as people are straight up with me and had they given advance notice, I would even continue doing business with them for being honest.

3) This last one, I can't tell you how many times that has been done to me, we talk and things seem to go well and then on the other end, before I can get to a sample, they stop emailing me - leaving me hanging. To that end, it is very hard not to be hardened when it comes to potential employers, wondering if that conversation is going to go the same as usual. It is a tight rope that you (the boss) and me (the employee) walk when trying to find that perfect match and I get that.

That is why I asked for a little more of a clear view on what you are after. I have been in the adult industry since July 1999... and I have done many many many things and am damn good at all of them - however - it doesn't matter how good I am if what I do doesn't fall in the realm of what you are looking for... I won't fall at the feet of anyone and I would never ever ask or expect you to - I appreciate you taking the time to go over this and have this discussion with me - that's all I ever wanted.
