Mid Level Web Developer Position in LA
Web Developer, In House Position, Los Angeles, CA
Under the direction of the Manager of Software Applications, this position is responsible for working with the development and application team for development and maintenance of software applications. The position is accountable for programming and system design. This position will interact with other IT staff, end-users and external vendors for troubleshooting and application analysis, as well as support and training of developed or vendor-implemented applications. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide user support and training for existing and future applications while maintaining a high level of service to all end-users. 2. Develop dynamic content generation using Adobe ColdFusion, Adobe Flex, Microsoft .NET and Microsoft SharePoint Technologies. 3. Work with the development team and IT Staff on various projects. 4. Support the maintenance and future upgrades/enhancements of the existing applications, providing a methodological approach to change control and documentation. 5. Participate in the full development lifecycle of proposed applications from analysis, requirements gathering, design, implementation and maintenance. 6. Facilitate issue resolution with external vendors, including reproducing, reporting and tracking issues. 7. Test and validate software fixes and upgrades, and manage and maintain proper change and version control for all developed applications. 8. Become proficient in Pilat IBMS, Argo Systems Medea and other major business applications in use by PEGI through training, hands-on experience and working with end users and vendor support personnel. 9. Analyze application problems and programming requirements and modify system design to take maximum advantage of the existing data processing resources. 10. Prepare realistic development and testing schedules consistent with established department standards and priorities. 11. Assure compliance with IT policies and procedures when meeting the obligations of assigned priorities. 12. Assist and provide backup to the end-user computing, development, and operation in Chicago. 13. Maintain new features, enhancements, and modifications to existing extranet and intranet portals. PERSON SPECIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) and a minimum of two years? experience in commercial software design and development required. 2. Strong background in system analysis, application development and testing. 3. Experience in personal computing (PC and Macintosh), Microsoft networking and general application programs. 4. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with end users, IT peers, external vendors and managers. 5. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. 6. Must be familiar with RDBMS (like SQL Server or Oracle) and have strong understanding of HTTP protocols. Must be proficient with JavaScript, SQL and advanced HTML languages. ColdFusion experience is required. Adobe Flex, Microsoft .NET, or SharePoint/MOSS 2007 is a plus. 7. Assertive, resourceful self-starter who can understand and express appropriate levels of urgency. 8. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. 9. Ability and flexibility to multi-task, prioritize, and organize multiple projects/tasks concurrently while meeting required deadlines. 10.
