funny pic =)
this reminds me of stephen king's movie, The Myst,.. they ran out of gas, and they were surrounded by beasts/monsters..due to the lack of faith and the likelihood that they'll be eaten by monsters, the main character shot everyone in the car including his own kid..as it was the rational thing to do.. the moment he killed them..rescue arrived..and the movie ended with him screaming in agony for his mistakes. faith is powerful..sometimes it helps keep you going even if it's the most irrational reasoning. |

Funny thing is, after all of the resistance to science from religion hundreds of years
ago, now it seems to be coming full circle in a way. Science is proving, much to the chagrin of some scientists and the delight of others, that many religious texts have a firm historical basis. For example Exodus. Various branches of science are showing it to be a pretty accurate historical account - archeology is finding that the Egyptians separately recorded the same events, from their own political perspective, and finding Isrealite artifacts showing that the Isrealites were in Egypt at the proper time, then suddenly left. Geology and recent history show exactly how the plagues probably happened, with a very similar chain of events occurring recently. In short, seismic activity released toxic gas into a river and lake system, turning it red and causing all of the frogs to jump out. Volcanic ash from the eruption turns the sky dark and fire falls from the sky. That's five of the plagues - the Nile turning red, the frogs, darkness, and fire from the sky. The others are similarly related - first born sons in Egypt slept on mats on the floor - making them particularly vulnerable to the toxic gas which is heavier than air. I don't remember all of the details, but the events in the 1980s match very closely to the Exodus plagues, and science has learned that indeed Santorini was caused by a huge eruption off the Egyptian coast around time of Exodus. So for so long religion tried to prevent science from proving them wrong on certain points, then it turns out that science ends up proving much of what can be proven or disproven from religion. Interesting stuff. It's good to see that SOME religious leaders are also opening up far more to what science has to say, looking at it more the way Einstein did - with science showing HOW "the God force" does what it does. |
Thats about right.
|
That was fucking great!
|
Funny!!!!!!!!!!!!
