So, you got people saying DON'T PANIC over this corona virus
so, when do we panic? Should we ever panic?
Asteroid about to hit earth: Don't panic it hasn't hit yet. Asteroid hits earth: Don't panic..everyone is dead, no point of panicking Some people say "Thousands die of heart attack daily, and tornadoes, why are we making a big deal out of this virus" |

I'm looking at the numbers of coronavirus vs SARS and MERS... .
There was 8,437 cases of SARS with 813 deaths, and MERS had 2499 cases and 861 deaths. However..... There are 99k cases of Coronavirus in under two months. Coronavirus seems to be as easy as the common flu to catch. |
I've done the math and I've counted many beans... this coronavirus is bullshit. There is, last I checked, 100,000 confirmed with 3,000 deaths. What those numbers don't show is the 85% of people who catch the corona and have mild to no symptoms.
By my math... .3% who catch corona, die. Influenza... .2% who catch it die. My recommendation... buy travel and resort type stocks while they are getting hammered. Oh... and short Casper... it will be a $3 stock by years end. |

that's what austria said seconds before invaded by germany |

yep -- even nurses wearing PPEs get it, and because they were wearing PPEs at the time, CDC refuses to give them coronavirus tests |
We've altered our vaca plans because of the coronavirus. We were gonna spend a week in the Rockies in May, but the wife's immune system is wiped out due to her RA biologic meds, so we can't take the remote chance of her coming in proximity to someone with the virus, whether it's on the ground or in an airplane.
It's not paranoia or panic - just precautionary. She likely wouldn't stand a chance if she contracted it. |

Short the Home Care / Nurshing Home (soon) Short Shopify soon (right now those drop shippers who are still subscribed to shopify are keeping shopify profitable but the ones who will feel the immediate pain are the dropshippers running those shopify sites because China's manufacturing slowed down big. When those dropshippers start dissapearing, shopify should follow.. |

This. Also, most people who catch COVID-19 recover without ever needing to even spend a day at the hospital, much less dying. Respected epidemiologists say they believe many more people have caught it than is believed, but it just wasn't that big a deal so it went undiagnosed. You are vastly more likely to be struck by lightning https://www.nationalgeographic.com/n...out-lightning/ |
What sucks is that it could turn into a yearly/seasonal thing. Epidemiologists are predicting it might.
So it's like, now we have a flu that's 5-10x as deadly. It might be killing older/unhealthier people before their time for the rest of our lives. I know people on gfy will be flippant about it and say "good, let the old people die" but this is your parents/grandparents. It's you one day. It sucks. |

It's not that dying from illness doesn't suck, but, so far, this one is way less of a big deal than influenza, and tons of the same people I see freaking out don't even bother to get a FREE flu shot every year. |

I'll bet you $100 that, in the US, in a year's time COVID-19 will still be killing fewer Americans than the flu. I don't feel we know enough about what is happening inside China's huge quarantine and I don't know enough about healthcare outside the US to conjecture. But this is not big news in the US. |

When ever like start panicking and run around in circles then trash your loungeroom so you can further enforce the belief the apocalypse is coming.

I’m sure many people had it and weren’t diagnosed and died. Autopsies aren’t always done due to age or religion. I’d hope that now they are taking steps to determine cause of deaths when flu or pneumonia-like symptoms were present.
It is spreading over a wider area and people can’t fluff if off. |

Watch out for tornado's... more likely to kill. Ask the peeps in Tennessee |
in any situation, people are taught not to panic, panic creates fear and incorrect thinking.
I´m not panicking, however, keep it real, stay safe, this is a real threat, and logically if no one cared, could be the end of your life. Enjoy life, live it and respect there is a threat! |

And yes... I recommend you buy Disney stock and watch it grow 50% by years end. If you have the balls... short casper to pink slips... they have no future and will be gone in 2 years |
It's just another cold/flu, until a family member dies from it... My biggest fear would be stuck in quarantine somewhere, so I'm not travelling anywhere for now.

Don't panic... or panic. Binary
Between 2/3% of people contaminated died. When i play omaha poker and put the pot on the river with 20% of chance to win, yes i panic. But with 97%, i smile |

As about me, so I don't give a shit about it. We have many coronaviruses since forever, so what? This is not the first one.

Really?
I doesn't know. On French TV there are talking about 2/3%, only older people. We don't have the same information. Maybe many countries communate or don't, and try to skip a panic :( Really, i/we don't know the thrue (I'm learning english, don't hesitate to correct me) |

That's not based on who has it, or what happened in China but patients going to hospital today in Italy. Milan is one of the richest areas with the best hospitals in Italy. |

You are correct, based on what the medical community seems to believe and I am inclined to believe scientists. The elderly and immunocompromised or otherwise seriously ill are at the greatest risk and should be extra careful. Everyone else should mostly wash their hands and don't let sick people spit on them. |

Deaths in italy: 0-49 yo = 0 cases 50-59 yo = 2.8% of cases 60-69 yo = 8.4% of cases 70-79 yo = 32.4% of cases 80-89 yo = 42.2% of cases 90 yo = 14.1% of cases The 90+ probably is lower because there are less 90 year olds in general. Italy has a very old population, something like 60% is over 40. |

You keep on supporting your Trump voting pencil pushing doctor of quack, but for myself I'd rather hear it from those fighting the battle right now and what their up against on a day to day base... that reports from yesterday. where he says 65 is medium age, 50% higher and 50% lower. The death rate is higher for older people, but as far as ending up isolated in ICU we need to be thinking more like those over 35. |
