LONDON - Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran?s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.


In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.


To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom?s air defences will return to full alert.



?The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way,? said a US defence source in the area. ?They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren?t scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [US] State Department.?


Sources in Saudi Arabia say it is common knowledge within defence circles in the kingdom that an arrangement is in place if Israel decides to launch the raid. Despite the tension between the two governments, they share a mutual loathing of the regime in Tehran and a common fear of Iran?s nuclear ambitions. ?We all know this. We will let them [the Israelis] through and see nothing,? said one.


The four main targets for any raid on Iran would be the uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz and Qom, the gas storage development at Isfahan and the heavy-water reactor at Arak. Secondary targets include the lightwater reactor at Bushehr, which could produce weapons-grade plutonium when complete.


The targets lie as far as 1,400 miles (2,250km) from Israel; the outer limits of their bombers? range, even with aerial refuelling. An open corridor across northern Saudi Arabia would significantly shorten the distance. An airstrike would involve multiple waves of bombers, possibly crossing Jordan, northern Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Aircraft attacking Bushehr, on the Gulf coast, could swing beneath Kuwait to strike from the southwest.

Now Israel just needs to prepare to fight the entire middle east by themselves.

Thing is, everybody wants Iran bombed because of the nuclear weapons they have in underground bunkers. The bombs they will be using are ones that once they hit the ground, it detonates over 250 feet underground and the whole top caves in. They are hitting underground bomb labs as well so they cannot make anymore. Its crazy because Iran know its coming since its been on the news and you would thing they could do something about it...i dunno.

What can they do? If they attempt a preemptive air strike against Israel their planes will get blown out of the sky.

Moreover, they would then provide the Israelis with the perfect excuse to launch their own attack.

Then again, I think there's at least a 50/50 chance that this story was made up by someone in the State Department and then leaked to the press in an attempt to frighten the Iranians.

I don't get why people are so fucking obsessed with a country that doesn't even have nukes.

Why aren't people bombing North Korean nuclear sites ? They sold the nuke technology to Iran and Syria. Shouldn't NK be of immediate concern than Iran ?

A) Christians were killing a lot sooner than 1000 years ago.

B) Islam is 700 years younger than Christianity. Christians finally stopped officially murdering about 300 years ago. Do the math. If Islam stopped killing toady they would have "evolved" 300 year quicker than Christians.

Something doesn't sit well with this story with me. Oh, I'm sure the Saudis have some kind of agreement in place to allow Israel through, but they are not and will not shut down their air force to do it.

I'm sure you are correct (didn't bother to check) The point is Islam is still at the root of many of todays conflicts, killing in the name of religion. The middle east religion has been/still is in a vacuum. Time seems to have stood still for them.
