Is this a normal bitcoin fee?

Hey guys,

I'm using blockchain.com wallet, and noticed when sending this was my fee:

Amount:
$3.99
0.00041018 BTC

Fee:
$2.65
0.00027225 BTC

The fee is $2.65 to send $4 worth of bitcoin. Is blockchain robbing me or is this the going rate for smaller bitcoin transactions?

I would use coinbase but they banned my account without explanation, and it was a legitimate account with my ID verified etc. Any recommendations for good wallets?

No those are not normal fees but third parties can charge as they please. Coinbase has much lower fees on transactions, but the best way to go is a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger. Your transaction fees will be more like 0.00000010 BTC (10 SAT) and the transactions are pretty much instant as no third party needs to approve or profit from it. Check these links:

https://www.trezor.io
https://www.ledger.com (50% sale at the moment)

No affiliate links needed.

What he said ^^ :thumbsup

I just tested out an exchange, realized i didnt like it, and withdraw at 0.0005 fee off the bat :disgust

Using trezor right this moment you have choice between 1 sat/B ($0.02) - 136 sat/B ($5), depending on how fast you need. Even electrum (Free wallet) you can choose your fee

That said, Bitcoin fees are a bit higher right now (chart about BTC fees or for a visual)

The network fees are ridiculous right now since the halving. That being said it was $2.65 for your $4 transaction but it also would have been around $2,65 if it was $40000.
