Anybody in Chile and/or know adult/porn laws there?

I'm thinking about going to Chile and wondering if anyone on this board is in adult/porn can tell me what their experiences are regarding the legal situation and how light/heavy surveillance is?

And is it completely legal? According to the 2009 map of porn laws, it's legal, but this is a from wiki and obviously I can't rely on it:

Also, if anyone here works from Chile, how are the upload speeds? I imagine Santiago is more than adequate (am I right?), but what about Valpariso and Vina del Mar?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Well hopefully that GFY member will speak up and offer some information. Do you know her board name? I'd appreciate being able to talk with her.

Otherwise . . . bump. Anyone else know about adult as it relates to Chile? Thanks.

Ahhh Wikipedia the new Blacks Law Dictionary...

Here's something to consider... (If you're American) call down to the consulate in Chile and ask the attaché there what would be the Embassy's position on an American arrested in Chile for producing porn. If they don't say we would do everything in our power to free you and get you back on American soil as quickly as possible - you might want to factor that into your decision.

I've had several clients over the years arrested in foreign countries for producing porn. I cannot think of once instance where the U.S. govt gave a rats ass whether that person was given a fair and equitable trial on foreign soil.

If you're not American still call your country's embassy in Chile and ask. I suppose the response will be the same but I don't have any first hand knowledge in that regard.

Good luck.

Thanks for answering Michael. Taking this advice presumes that porn is illegal there, and I'm not sure if it is. That's the thing I'm trying to find out. I could go to another country where it is legal, but trying to find out in advance if it's legal there.

Does anyone know?

Yeah, I shouldn't be relying on wiki. It's just that it's all I've found on the topic so far.

Legal vs illegal is sometimes a shifting line in the sand made more or less visible by bribes & payoffs. Be careful. If you don't care for prison you will care less for most South American prisons.

JP513 11-24-2014 04:22 AM

Yeah true, shifting lines in the sand . . . but one would hope Chile is a bit more solid than that. Otherwise, I'm only aware of Colombia and Brazil being legal places for producing and would like to find some alternatives, like Chile and Ecuador maybe.

The US Embassy does fuck all to help their citizens abroad unless it's to get a new passport or other trivial things involving paper. The same goes for most other nations as well. Very few go to bat for their citizens when they are arrested, even if they are set up or wrongfully accused.
