Trump reduces a 20% the US contribution to NATO

...Europe far more than it does the U.S. By some accounts, the U.S. is paying for 90% of NATO, with many countries nowhere close to their 2% commitment. On top of this the European Union has a Trade Surplus of $151 Million with the U.S., with big Trade Barriers on U.S. goods. NO

In less then a day , the stable genius has managed to reduce of 20% the USA contribution to NATO .... :thumbsup

That is biggly and it will get bigglier during the NATO meeting...

The first time in history NATO invoked the joint security pact... was to come to Americas immediate aid after 911...

Bladewire 07-10-2018 08:46 AM

Remember how Russia invaded Crimea?

Putin doesn't like NATO because he can't expand much farther invading other innocent countries because NATO protects those countries...

good point, I can summarize how nato "works" in 1 sentence:

For decades europe has not taken its own security seriously.

nato proves that.

Bladewire 07-10-2018 08:54 AM

Putin has wanted NATO disbanded for over a decade, because he wants to invade past Crimea & Ukraine and NATO stops this

Nope, not a problem ....

This will prevent NATO to go in Afghanistan , Lybia ....

After all, it is the North Atlantic .... Not the Remove Dictator ....

then this is a positive thread about the USA going in the right direction by reducing our contribution to nato by 20%. here's to hoping we withdraw the remaining 80%!

Imagine how it would look to you if I woke up every morning, read what Bernie Sanders said and based on that and that alone, started ranting and raving about that thing and how it's the end of the world all day long without even thinking about the issue, the facts or WHO i'm actually arguing for or against... then woke up, read the new headlines and soundbites and went batshit nuts again all day long irregardless of the facts or issues, who is being helped or hurt etc.

the next few days will be fun because euros will be blaming USA for being in NATO and they will be finger-pointing trump for threatening to withdraw from NATO.

that's why i stated "our" contribution has been reduced 20%. that reduction has happened over a period of years, before trump.

I understand that this would be very inconvenient for the invader...but there is no reason for the invader to feel safe :thumbsup

Left for the last 50 Years... "we need to scale back NATO", "We don't need NATO", "The Cold War is over, End NATO"

Also Left: "WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES... HOW DARE YOU SCALE BACK NATO. FUCK. SHit. Fuck fuck fuck. Shit. Trump. Fuck. Whore. Trump. Trump. Russia. TRUMP. TRUMP."

Just like with his campaign, Trump had to spend very little money because the media and the Left did his campaigning for him... mostly talking how dumb he is and how he can't possibly win and how each new thing he said and did would only hurt him and his chances of winning the election.... and every time you acted out like little children, his popularity went up, not down.

It's super kind of you idiots to recognize that and then double down on your efforts for the whole 4 years to make sure he gets a second term. Hopefully you'll all get a MAGA hat. You've all earned it.

Now ********** is sitting in his little silver pocket pussy he calls a Chevy Volt, furiously typing on his dearest possession, a smuggled ObamaPhone on GFY from IrrelevantLand about how NATO needs to be saved because Germanys GFY representative.... er... wait... Germany... you know, the country that started the whole fucking thing by trying to take over the world and eradicate a race of people from the planet and completely destabilized Europe WHILE causing the deaths of 10s of millions of people.. has his usual sourpuss, negative, doom and gloom views while letting everyone know how dumb they are in the process because they don't see the world through his own warped lens.

Haha... incredible times we're living in.... because.... "Hate Trump at any cost!"

And by the way, where you "Fuck NATO... it's nobodies business" Super Pussies when Russia was invading the Ukraine and Black Jesus was in the White House???? NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!

kane 07-10-2018 01:04 PM

I actually agree with Trump on this one. If there are NATO allies who are not meeting their promised levels of spending, they should be held accountable. We spend way too much on the military as it is, cutting back on NATO funding (so long as they don't just waste that money somewhere else, sound good to me.

It's really not too much to ask - at least to normal people.

Really, they should be contributing much more but they aren't powerful countries like the United States so we can be charitable.

it's even worse than that kane. i'm not a NATO expert but I've been prepping a bit for this week since I knew it would be the current outraged at xxx topic. here's the thing, eu NATO countries can't even get organized as a cohesive bloc on NATO, organizationally or strategically. While Ukraine was a wake up on Ruskie aggression and they all finally started spending money on their militaries then, they've yet to organize as a unit. they most likely never will because the union is imploding.

i'll dig up some articles and post them, but yeah, let's withdraw from NATO. we've been drawing down toops pretty significantly is my understanding as well. that's what I thought this topic was about, our decreased commitment over time to NATO.

And by the way, I'd love to hear more from Stefan. Germany needs NATO for protection from Russia, doesn't pull their weight when the bills come due... but while Russia was busy invading countries right in their own back yard and shooting down commercial airliners... Germany said NOTHING... because, ... well,.... they're too busy sending BILLIONS to their Russian allies for natural gas.

But yeah... "you care" and anyone who doesn't agree with you "is too dumb to get it".

oh... and to make you happy, i'll chant your smug, passive agressive Leftist chant to show i'm a good sport... "FUCK TRUMP AND ANYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH ME FOR ANY AND EVERY REASON NO MATTER HOW DUMB I SOUND - I'M LEAVING NOW BECAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO AND JUST WANT TO HAVE AN HONEST DISCUSSION!"

I'm surprised you and ********** aren't married by now.

I can almost picture you taking him from behind in your compost heap after a heated discussion on why Sweden is kicking out 500,000 refugees for the massive spike in violent crime they created and you make Mark wear an blond wig and paint his face orange and tell you what a bad boy he's been and insisting that he needs to be punished.

To be fair, Putin is a genius. He is an apex predator that is always playing chess to everyone's checkers all the time.

Do you remember how he got elected the first time? Of course not. It was the most brilliant coup ever in history. No one noticed. No one cared. No one said a single word. World Bank, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and all the many nations offering up international loans,... never missed a beat. The flow of cash into Russia at a time when they were basically bankrupt never stopped flowing. It was almost magical how he took control of a nation where just 5 years before Yeltsin actively tried to splinter and destroy the KGB.

Yeltsin had outlived his usefulness, the "Oligarchs" had been deemed to have stolen enough and he slid right into the Kremlin. A lowly deputy to the Governor of St Petersurg region. In what was clearly a brokered agreement, he was made Prime Minister (Yeltsin was President) after many many Prime Ministers were fired by Yeltsin as they became popular. No one had heard of Putin at that time. The hot button issue was Chechnya and Russia l(great in their own minds) lost a war to a band of villagers aremed with AKs and RPGs and Druganovs and a will to fight, Coming right on the heels of the collapse of the Soviet Union, this was a huge blow to Russians egos. As Prime Minister he started talking hinting at revisiting the Chechen peace deal, then started getting a little more vocal about it and the "greatness of our nation" kind of stuff and then magically, little skirmishes began happening all around Chechnya. He vowed to crack down. The elections happened right then and he won by a legitimate landslide. Next thing you know a convoy of "Chechens" crashed a military checkpoint into Dagestan, apartment buildings started blowing up in Moscow, "Operation Whirlwind" was in full effect where you couldn't drive more than 2-3km without a police checkpoint, flak jackets, full tactical gear etc... and unsuprisingly, a lot of "Chechens" were caught with stolen weapons systems to smuggle out etc etc etc and next thing you know, the tanks are headed back to Grozny and Chechnya is now Russia and Putin is on his 4th term. :)

But he took a lot of dark turns along the way and now has become one of the Oligarchs he was originally fighting against.

Obama and Hillary just couldn't understand Russians. They only respect strength and power. They instinctively roll right over weakness. But there is one thing that Putin and anyone in power in Russia have never wanted and do not want... ever and that is a strong USA.

Do you think the country is stronger now than it was before the election? I don't. I look around and see half the country despises the President. There seems to be endless protests, white supremacists are suddenly back in the news and have a presence, and the congress is a mess. Our allies are at odds with us, our leadership is doing nothing to try to bring the country together, in fact, quite the opposite, and these are just to name a few things from the top of my head.

If you compared the country at this time in 2015 to now, I would say we are much weaker and less stable now than we were then.

Putin got exactly what he wanted.
