Need Dedicated Server

Time for another upgrade.

My Xen VPS currently has:

2.4ghz
3/4 Core
2GB RAM
56GB HD
1TB bandwidth

And I'm hitting 80% constantly.

I'd prefer Windows, but it isn't a deal breaker.

mgtarheels 01-30-2011 05:41 PM

Cmon, slackers.

Klen 01-30-2011 05:45 PM

webair 01-30-2011 05:45 PM

Hit up Jim at Techiemedia.net, or TondaB at Nakedhosting.com. Both great and affordable hosts, with 2 solid thumbs up from me.

I use and recommend SecuredServers.com

Awesome support, very friendly staff, great network, and great prices. Dedicated servers start at $58 per month, Windows is a small additional monthly fee.

I've been at a lot of hosts, and they're by far the best. Support is in Phoenix. Their network is constantly upgraded. In 6 months I had a total of 10 minutes downtime during a network upgrade and I was notified in plenty of time. The other times they upgraded and told me I might experience downtime, I never did.

What is the budget target you are trying to hit?

Contact sales via Email and haggle a bit.

No offense, mate, but that's a shitty deal.

I can get:
Quad Core Xeon X3430
2gb ddr3
500gb HD
10mbps unmetered
windows 2008 standard
plesk (10 domains)

all for $31 cheaper than your offer.

Why the fuck would I want a VPS with the exact same specs when I'm looking to upgrade? Nevermind you costing more than 3x the price I'm currently paying.

I can give you Plesk Panel 10 at no additional charge. Not a problem. I would be careful about getting a drive too much bigger than what you need, that can come back to bite you in the ass.

You just resell OC3, do you beg them for servers and IP's?

If you ever have to copy your drive, that includes copying sectors that have no data. Can make the task take significantly longer than need be.

That's a problem I wouldn't mind having, considering the drive would only be 500GB, it's not a big deal.

baddog 01-30-2011 07:29 PM

Okay, I can give you a 500 GB, but it would be more, and since cost seems to be the primary concern, I will leave with a good luck.

Price isn't my main concer, not even close.

Tell me how your logic makes sense?

I tell you your deal sucks because I can get a MUCH better CPU, 2x the storage, DDR3 vs. DDR2 that you offer, 10mbps unmetered, and from a very well known company vs. a company I've never heard of for $31 cheaper. You're 32% more expensive, while bringing less to the table.

Just seems clear cut to me, again no offense to you or your company.

Just got an email back from them.

Their current "special" has been one of the worst offers so far, tbh. From the looks of it, it'd be cheaper to go to SoftLayer, lol.

What'd you think of the SecuredServers.com deals? Their support rocks. My account manager even gave me his cell phone number. I've been with over a dozen hosts and they're the best by far.

Very nice.

The deal I showed Baddog was from secured. They're in the top 2 right now, but I haven't been able to get ahold of someone from their sales dept.

moeloubani 01-30-2011 08:07 PM

Aside from the earlier screw up with the sales team not being there Webair is who you should be dealing with. Their servers are the fastest and their support (the live support) is there instantly whenever you need something and they actually help you through it.

Seems they have a lot of naysayers. Not sure why.

LOL, they're the other one I'm seriously considered. All the issues people had with them were regarding support, though.

Because it will run better then you can do on your own. We do managed, if you want a cheap box that will probably piss your customers off then go with the planet. If you want quality then get a host that will take care of the server for you that knows what they are doing. Unless you want to sit in front of your computer everyday all day?

My VPS is 100% managed. Never experienced down time other than when I was notified in advance and my experience at the host is MUCH better than the majority of hosts thrown around here on gfy. You made yourself look quite foolish, imo.

Fuck, you're even a reseller. Get out of here.

Btw:
CPU XEON

LOL, is that a joke? Don't even list what CPU it is?

Are you looking for managed? Secured is unmanaged by default but they do provide managed, did you talk to them about that?

I prefer managed, but I can do unmanaged as well. I mentioned it and they said they'll be providing it soon, but I'll see what they charge for it.
