Google sandboxed: can you get your site out of the "box"?

I am noooooo expert in google.

basically "i" have a site thats forum script got hacked and was sending out spam to people from my site around 1 year ago.

since then it has been sandboxed. the site is high quality, lots of content, quality inbound links, no link spamming or anything.

what steps would i take to get it "out of the sandbox"?

Agent 488 12-06-2010 04:38 PM

is it still indexed? does your domain show in google or nothing?

make sure it's clean - add it to google webmaster tools - do a reconsideration request explain what happened and what you did to clean it up.

Juicy D. Links 12-06-2010 04:38 PM

Contact Google via webmaster tools and explain the situation to the rep.

Submit a re-inclusion request. If all is as you advertised, should be relisted in short order for your pleasure.

thats not sandbox, thats penalty :)

its not my site but thought itd be easier to explain it as "mine". but for him over 1 year.

ok just heard it is indexed still. so i guess its not sand boxed? but after this hit it dropped 80% of the listings.

i have a site that lost ranking when i tried to increase my inbound links.
after i stopped trying to do it...the rankings came back

MetaMan 12-06-2010 04:48 PM

" yeah it's still indexed, everypage on the site is indexed, however 80% of the rankings are gone and 20% of the rankings are still there but on pages 2 down"

he also said it could be due to over optimizing/age filter.

Could be a number of issues as small as flash up at the top of main page, a scroll box, etc.

I would list all the components that make up the index and splash page if applicable. Highest priority with items at top of page. Then google whatever it is and add "google penalty" and see what topics come up.

Another option is to go to google forum and post your question. Then ignore everybody except a guy named Phil who is an expert on penalized sites.

Agent 488 12-06-2010 04:55 PM

do the reconsideration. say you got hacked blah blah.

in the mean time start doing some steady link building, but do it with a wide variety keywords as to make it seem more natural. also prune the site of any dead links as linking to dead sites sets off a trigger than your site is dead, clean up any keyword stuffing, stupid shit like hidden text, also make sure not linking to banned/malware sites. see what happens.

True that page peels can affect your rank? Appearing right after the opening body.

Thanks in advance

since we are actually talking shop in here

what is the difference between a google referral and google organic

i dont buy traffic from google for this site...but i see them sending me referral traffic
as well as alexa...and a couple other spots

is it just how they choose to record how they send out hits?

CYF 12-06-2010 06:25 PM

that sounds like a penalty to me.

You can use the webmaster tools that google provides to ask for reinclusion / reconsideration.

Agent 488 12-06-2010 06:36 PM

since we are here - i bought a mainstream exact match domain that i can't get indexed - it's been two weeks now.

in webmaster tools shows no errors but i think it dropped because it was penalized but can't find any info on it.

could just let it go but had content made up for it already. anyone ever recover a domain in this situation?

I don't know. I've received penalties and fixed and both causes were because google could not read the code. One was a large flash mock up on home page and the other a scroll box on the splash page. If google can't read it the algorithm believes site is trying to hide something and shoots the site way to the back.

Common checks to see if you've been penalized is to type in the search term you once had and then click advanced searches and expand to 100 per page. Check page 10 first and see if you've been 950'd and then work towards the front.

Rick Diculous 12-06-2010 09:23 PM

The sandbox usually last a couple of days to a week, never lasts a whole year. Never hear of those penalties tho
