Google Spot Lost - Reasons

Hi there.

My site was between 1-5 at some keywords at google.
Then I lost those spots suddenly. Only at google.com. At local google sites like .fr or .uk I still have my spots but as you can imagine the most of my traffic is gone.

I am wondering what would cause that. I have a little bit too much banners at the top of the page but it was always like that. Though if it is the situation I will remove most of them.

I checked my links if there are any dead links or suspicous links marked by firefox. So far I found 1 dead link and removed it.

I will fill out reconsideration for my site at google but I want to be sure I would have done everything at my side before do that.

If anyone can give tips about this it would be great.

Fat Panda 12-07-2010 04:56 PM

Come again? :P

geirlur 12-08-2010 04:59 AM

How long is it since you lost the spot? Sometimes the sites bounce back to their regular spot in a couple of weeks

lesbondlinks 12-08-2010 07:08 AM

It has been 4 days now.

Cam94 12-08-2010 07:37 AM

build links. You should always be building links. Just because you got first page doesnt mean you should stop linkbuilding. When you stop your competitors are still getting links

bns666 12-08-2010 10:37 AM

- put more pages on the site (and structure the internal linking hierarchy properly)
- optimize/clean html
- set all sponsor links to rel="nofollow"
- build more 1way backlinks
- more text links to sponsors on proper places instead of intrusive banners could bring you more clicks.

cheers :)

cherrylula 12-08-2010 10:38 AM

reason? google found a better site to list.... so get back to work. :)

Slappin Fish 12-08-2010 10:46 AM

Did it disappear completely?

Sometimes when that happens it just reappears in number 1 after a few days.

I would wait a little longer before submitting for reconsideration, Google always find a way to use that kind information against you, could bite you in the ass.

lesbondlinks 12-08-2010 11:53 AM

I am at 153th spot now. I am also keeping my old spots at local google sites like google.fr, google.co.uk.

I will not submit any reconsideration form before at least one week. In the mean time I will do the suggestions.

Thanks guys for your time and suggestions. I really appreciate it.

That's quite a drop. Any obvious back links disappear or get banned? That would be my first suspicion if this in an established site. Second would be algorithm change. I'd play it cool for at least a couple weeks and not make any drastic changes or freak out. In fact I usually do pretty well for keywords that are not highly competitive (niche stuff) totally ignoring google and just making my sites reasonably optimized. It usually works out.

arock10 12-08-2010 12:11 PM

I lost about 500 spots for some big terms recently with a site about a week ago. Maybe its related, though I am not ranked for other google countries

icymelon 12-08-2010 01:26 PM

do you have a site map that is google compatible added to google webmasters tools?

lesbondlinks 12-08-2010 01:32 PM

Nope. I will create one though

RegUser 12-08-2010 04:18 PM

I had a site on page 1 for 6 months. And then bam! Onto page 11
obviously nothing else changed that nite so blame it on algorithem

Dating Port 12-08-2010 05:51 PM

It may be a combination of an over-optimization penalty but one that is written into a new Algorithm. I lost some major keywords recently also and I don't think they're coming back. The site is strong and none of my other pages or keywords got touched, they're strong as ever. Also, my page didn't get delisted, only certain keywords. IMO this is just another Algorithm update. If it stays this way in another month, I'll have to re optimize the keyword structure on the page.

Is your domain a .com or something else? Almost looks like you've been turned into a regional site as opposed to a global site.

"reconsideration" is if you've been completely dumped from the index, not cause you lost your rankings.

fatfoo 12-08-2010 07:56 PM

It's unfortunate that you lost your 1-5 Google spots. It's hard to tell which reasons lead to the lower ranking. It could be because:
1) Keyword density was too high
2) Duplicate content
3) Banned words / phrases
4) PR decreased / less backlinks
5) Human checked your site and didn't like it for some reason (instead of bot)

Sorry to hear that. I had my spots for almost 3 years. the annoying part is I can get go between 1-10 or even over 10 in time. But from 1-5 to 150-200 in one second is beyond me.

My site is .com

And yeah I decided not to do reconsideration at least for awhile.

the links linking to you could have added to many links. one or more of your better inbound links dropped you. the links linking to you lost their back links. sometimes its out of your control

u-Bob 12-09-2010 04:20 AM

add more content, get more links....

lesbondlinks 12-15-2010 12:35 AM

Well I cleaned my page a little bit. Removed all dead links. Removed 1/3 of banners. Added rel="nofollow" to my affiliate links.

And it actually paid up :)

I got my spots back like an hour ago I guess. They were still gone when I went to bed and after I woke up they were back. From now on I will manage my site much more seriously. Don't want this to happen ever again.

Again I want to say thank you to everyone who shared their comments, suggestions and tips. You guys were incredibly helpful.

Dodododa 12-15-2010 01:19 AM

Maybe your link appeared on a spam page or something. Google doesn't like people trying to fool it.

It sucks if you invest in your business based on the visitors coming from Google, then the rug gets pulled from under you. You can lose your livelihood when a third party company makes a little adjustment to its algorithm.

I've thought about this quite often. Everybody who makes money from the internet is effectively employed by Google, and yet Google is free to screw us and make us homeless overnight.

lesbondlinks 12-22-2010 04:47 AM

Well spots are gone once again. This is getting annoying. I would understand if they are gone for good but getting spots back and loosing again in 5 days is hard to understand.

lesbondlinks 12-22-2010 05:00 AM

I am wondering if iframe ad at top of my page would cause this. The only change I made after getting my spots back was adding that iframe to my page. It sells good but if that is the issue I can remove it

GirlsOnYou 12-22-2010 05:24 AM

That happens plenty to some of my sites as well.. I'd guess they are temporary penalties.. for what reason exactly, only google knows for sure. :P

Thanks for tip. That iframe is gone for good this time. Shame though because it had kick-ass ratio. But getting back 75% of my traffic is kinda more important :P

pristine 12-22-2010 05:43 AM

they realized your site blows and kicked it down is all.

~Ray 12-22-2010 05:51 AM

let me know if you need more backlinks.

my service also grows your backlinks monthly.

Move more text to the top and the banners lower. Make 1 change at a time and wait till site gets reindexed and see if position moves.

It doesn't matter that your site has been like it was for so long, drop can happen at anytime. My bet is all the banners at the top of page.

Good luck

My site is still indexed. It moved from spot 1 to spot 180~ at one keyword which affects me most. I have done what you suggested by the way. Thanks.

TeenCat 12-22-2010 10:54 AM

klinton 12-22-2010 11:14 AM

g dance ?

wait...you can be back in few weeks higher....

seeandsee 12-22-2010 11:18 AM

somebody boobytraped your site?, did you notice some shity backlinks coming from nasty pages?

bns666 12-22-2010 12:45 PM

how about reorganizing the layout so keyword rich content is always before pics/banners?

I should have said "wait till google crawls your site and caches the main page". Then check your ranking again.

lesbondlinks 08-08-2012 01:53 AM

Well I lost almost 90% of my google traffic now.

My site, www.lesbianbondagelinks.com used to get number one spot at "lesbian bondage" and top 5 at "lesbian bdsm" and "lesbian domination", etc. And I was getting around 1400-1500 unique from google. Now I am getting maybe 50 :P.

I am wondering what should I do to get it back? I don't have any time to get into SEO stuff by myself because of other works I have to do. Though I still want to get back my $1000-1200 monthly earning.

Any suggestions? Should I hire some people? Or should I just dump/sell the site?

DamageX 08-08-2012 02:30 AM

The site's a one-page linkfarm. Ergo, it holds no value to Google.

Build more sites...that way if one loses traffic you'll take less of a hit. You could try all sorts of SEO and read about SEO tactics until your eyes bleed but Google is constantly changing. Anyways, sorry to hear your website got hit and hopefully it gets better.

V_RocKs 08-08-2012 04:13 AM

You lost your spot to people that give out free porn...

Kiss it goodbye... You will never get it back unless Google makes a change in their policy or algo.

It is time for you to open a lesbian bondage tube and give the free model a try.

Was searching for some new keywords today and just about all the porn searches I did had the first pages of Google dominated by torrent sites and full length tubes :(

pornguy 08-08-2012 07:19 AM

Unless its a tube site or site with all stolen content for download you toast

dlb 08-08-2012 07:22 AM

AllAboutCams 08-08-2012 07:26 AM

Tom_PM 08-08-2012 07:34 AM

Fat Panda 08-08-2012 07:46 AM
