Do something nice for Christmas. Help this kid live

http://www.sethbenjamin.org/

I have no idea who he is and have nothing to do with him or the family but I shot off 100$ to help.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/1..._n_793950.html

Thats the article where I first read about him.

Can any of you drop a few dimes to help his family?

I donated a little bit, didn't have much in my paypal since I emptied it yesterday.

On a related note, what gets me is the statement from the boy's parents:
"Everyday is a gift from God especially for Seth."
How do you still believe in God when your son is born like that, thanks to God?

pornguy 12-09-2010 09:52 AM

Soooo many rich guys around here and no one wants to help this kid?? Guess that tells us something.

Bryan G 12-09-2010 10:12 AM

I'll donate a bit as well,

heres a bump,

Maybe if you had a belief in a higher power you would have a clue. Hell, maybe if you had even read about different religions you would have a clue.

What does it tell you?

pornguy 12-09-2010 10:48 AM

All talk and no action is what it tells me.

Thousands of kids will starve to death or die ravaged form cureable diseases. Hundreds more will die violent brutal deaths in war torn nations.

For the price of this one kid's surgery how many of them could be saved?

Why don't they just take him to a church to be fixed?

Annoys me when people who's relative is only alive because of intensive medical care thank God rather than all the Doctors and nurses that have kept them going.

I feel I am a pretty generous guy. What is it about this kid that sets him apart from any other? Convince me, and I will donate.

Though it is absolutely horrible for any child to suffer, those closer to home tend to effect me more. I do sponsor a couple of children in the Philippines but I wonder if my money actually reaches the children or not. It is much harder to make a different in such a distant place in my opinion.

In any situation you never really know if the money is going for the cause which you intend but it makes me feel good to try and make a difference in the lives of unfortunate children.

Thanks for posting this link pornguy, I will donate to the cause.

There are many causes you can donate to, I donated to multiple people for Movember because it's a good cause.

Hard to say which causes are more worth while than any other, I try and give to as many as possible. I'm extremely fortunate and have just about everything I want or need at this point so it feels better to give then receive, especially this time of year.

Not exactly. Webmaster Toy Run touches many whereas this is just one kid, with a fatal disease that will cost between $300-500k to give him a shot. As was mentioned above, how many children could be helped with that kind of funding?

Juicy D. Links 12-09-2010 01:43 PM

heres the info about him

I donated a bit and bump. I'm sure a lot of people can spare $10 on here.

Can't put a price on any child's life, give $5 to $10, and everyone else should do the same, it adds up and you'll never miss it

Emil 12-09-2010 02:57 PM

I did enter this thread thinking "Why the fuck should I care".
But I ended up donating anyway, I'm so weak.

VladS 12-10-2010 09:01 AM

Bump for more help for this kid. Even a few bucks help, take a few seconds from your time and donate a few bucks. Thanks.
