Ever slept in a Sleep Box?

Offering solace to weary travelers, the Russian architects at Arch Group have designed the Sleep Box concept for use in airports, where privacy is seldom found. Along with wifi connectivity, the interiors feature space for laptops, luggage and mobile devices. To maintain a sanitary environment, the beds use a system that changes the sheets automatically.

I would like to try to live in one of those for about a week or so.

signupdamnit 12-11-2010 08:52 AM

Pretty cool as long as they have great sound proofing.

quiet 12-11-2010 08:57 AM

i've wanted to see something like this for years. i hope some airports actually start buying them. long layovers during international travel suck balls.

BittieBucks Eric 12-11-2010 08:58 AM

Ever had sex in one?

CaptainHowdy 12-11-2010 09:04 AM

I want one...

ottopottomouse 12-11-2010 09:18 AM

I'd fall off that bed in the middle of the night turning over.

CaptainWolfy 12-11-2010 09:19 AM

It looks so cool :)

Paul&John 12-11-2010 09:28 AM

seeandsee 12-11-2010 09:33 AM

that is great solution when airport is your home for many hours

greg80 12-11-2010 09:55 AM

This is great! I am loving it and would love to have this on longer waits.

The Heron 12-11-2010 09:58 AM

I've always wondered why they didn't offer something like that, always figured it would be the japanese to develop it though...

DWB 12-11-2010 09:59 AM

I have not slept in those but have crashed in tiny "day rooms" at one of Japan's airports. Not much larger than those, but they do come with a little bathroom.

Itchy 12-11-2010 10:00 AM

Stayed in something close to that at the Amsterdam airport when i had a 18 hr wait

So, you piss out the window and take a shit on the floor outside?

SteveHardeman 12-11-2010 10:48 AM

Oh boy, I can see the Larry Craig's of the world taking full advantage of these. A "wide stance" may be a problem though.

TheDA 12-11-2010 10:59 AM

I've used the Yotel capsules at Schipol before and the capsule hotels in Japan before but never one of these - yet :)

Davy 12-11-2010 11:28 AM

They have similar rooms at Swedish universities. It's pretty awesome.
They only thing that's missing is a condom dispenser.

Redrob 12-11-2010 11:37 AM

Bedbugs galore and homeless bag folks?

fuzebox 12-11-2010 11:52 AM

I fly a lot of redeyes, I wish the big american hubs like Houston would install these... I usually rest my head on a desk in the presidents club.

Word. Otherwise they are as useless as an airport chair. :thumbsup

Trend 12-11-2010 03:43 PM

I'm a bit claustrophobic that would be a tad uncomfortable for me. interesting concept though.

TheSenator 12-11-2010 03:51 PM

I want one for my office.

BlueWave 12-12-2010 01:01 AM

I could swear the Japanese had something like these back in the 80's or 90's. Always thought they were a cool idea and wished they'd bring them to the states.

BJ 12-12-2010 01:04 AM

I can't wait to beat off in one!

Narita had the capsules like they do in the cities. Not sure if they still have them.

I don't think they do, I spent the night there recently because I missed a flight and the whole airport is closed after 12am, doors locked and everything. Nobody allowed to stay in the terminals or outside.

Chosen 12-12-2010 05:59 AM
