I've been looking forward to checking that one out for a few months now. Did you see Pontypool?

PornGreen 01-18-2011 06:58 PM

please tell me you are joking. this movie is horrible. horrible.

i posted a thread on it a while back. 50+ minutes into the movie and absolutely nothing has happened, the first hour is them trying to cross the border from mexico into usa. then they have one tiny encounter with the "monsters" that consists of a few glimpses of something picking up someone elses car and smashing it.

Well, not all movies are for everone..

10k people voted in to an average of 6.5 on IMDB, not a bad score at all.

I've been looking for Pontypool as well, sounds great.

I love to see no budget films like Monsters do well, spending 15k to make a successful feature is genius.

The problem with Monsters is that the title leads people to believe its some kind of action/horror movie. It's actually about the two central characters, set in some DMZ filled with weird creatures. It works as a small character driven movie, not as a Cloverfield type of flick. Just my take -- I liked it. I wasn't expecting much, maybe.

If you go in expecting to see giant beasts fucking shit up through the whole movie, you'll be let down.

Nice ending...it made me watch the beginning part again.

Not bad for a "B" movie... actually pretty good considering. Now if your expecting "A" list special effects, videography, acting, screenplay... well, then you will be very disappointed.

GTS Mark 01-18-2011 11:05 PM

I heard it was actually pretty cool!

PR_Dave 01-18-2011 11:21 PM

Movie was shot for $20,000.00. Most people flip out because they assume it was done with a Hollywood budget.

This movie is good on all sorts of levels.

LRS 01-18-2011 11:38 PM

will watch it.. thanks

digitaldivas 01-18-2011 11:50 PM

yeah me too, thanks!

.

With a title like "Monsters" it's not so far fetched people expecting actual monsters to appear in the movie.

Some people get pissed when they don't get what they expect out of a movie -- I look at it as a gift. How boring is it to not be surprised ever? Better to just watch a movie you know nothing about and let it happen to you(good or bad), instead of expecting it to fit into some pre-conceived expectations. A lot of people would enjoy movies more if they did that. I personally know a few who hate everything, and it must really fucking suck for them.

Like I said, it was a poorly chosen title -- but it might be some metaphor or something. You should watch the movie and see what you think. Not saying its super deep or anything-- but there's more to it than your average monster movie. Some really nice acting also, especially by the girl -- who could have played the boss' rich daughter as some kind of brat, but went the other way with it.

It's an awful movie, slow and boring with crap acting to boot - the trailers mis-sold the movie, I was expecting a well paced movie not this pile of crap.
