Alabama GOVERNOR -"Anyone who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior is not my brother"

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ? Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley told a church crowd just moments into his new administration that those who have not accepted Jesus as their savior are not his brothers and sisters, shocking some critics who questioned Tuesday whether he can be fair to non-Christians.

i think the "bible belt" is alot bigger than people realize. its always the south that gets that reference but living in washington for several years i discovered there are plenty of hicks to go around. the spokane-idaho connection is pretty scary, alot of fundamentalists/neo nazis.

Politicians will say anything to get elected and re-elected to please the masses.

Barry-xlovecam 01-19-2011 07:18 AM

I see the still elect cretins down there ...

Does he walk on his knuckles?

TheSenator 01-19-2011 07:19 AM

Religion just causes so much problems.

TheLegacy 01-19-2011 07:28 AM

What is really sad about that statement is that being a politician means you're to help and stand for the rights of everyone - not just those who you call "brother". Mixing politics with faith is dangerous since public office is suppose to be a balanced representation of everyone NOT just those who go to church.

hjnet 01-19-2011 07:48 AM

Damn, I so wanted to be his brother....

This is often stated among Christians and the only meaning it is is "brothers and sisters" in Christ. It does not have any sinister connotation to it.

Agent 488 01-19-2011 09:07 AM

if religion was eliminated the human condition would be solved and there would be peace on earth and universal enlightenment.

pornguy 01-19-2011 09:19 AM

Nothing like the separation between Church and state.

oh yeah, they're everywhere.

and been to spokane, weird place for sure.

But I don't know if they do this in other places for example. (I am in Louisiana) When we had to evacuate for a hurricane they put a Catholic Priest on the prime time NEWS, along with the reporters. They fucking pray, they talk to this guy like he knows what the hurricane is going to do ("God's decision"). And I mean it's on the local FOX news station.

And when I was holed up with a bunch of people waiting for this shit to pass so we could go home and voiced that as a non-religious person I was almost offended at seeing this I practically had shit flung at me. lol, they had no problem with it.

crazy the religion down here!

i love the southern states but can't stand the hyper religiouness. i just don't get it. lower iqs? tradition? same can be said for the midwest and pretty much anywhere outside of major centers it seems.

Splendorous_Male 01-19-2011 11:59 AM

Obama is "a Christian by choice". And he explains the brothers and sisters thing.
His answer starts at about 1:30 It takes the woman that long to get her question asked.

You forgot education, which is by far the largest determining factor of religious zealotry.

Lester Burnham 01-19-2011 05:18 PM

I think we should just go to 49 states and let Alabama be its own country (3rd world). The only thing that state produces of note is (1) football players and (2) Bama cheerleaders.

fatfoo 01-19-2011 05:37 PM

It's a controversial issue. The people could have different religions. United States money says, "In God we Trust." The god is probably assumed to be Jesus Christ.

Spunky 01-19-2011 05:46 PM

Jesus is lord!

arock10 01-19-2011 06:20 PM

Anyone who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior is not my brother

Also, I am not his brother because we are not related

blackmonsters 01-19-2011 06:28 PM

The End Is Near!

So hurry up and turn around and suck my cock before it's over.

Sure but at least they'd have a better excuse isntead of "My fake god is better than yours"

Well in Alabama your brother may also be your nephew or cousin or all 3.

ruff 01-19-2011 07:01 PM

Religion kills more people than just about anything else on this planet including disease and war.

That's what you say now, but if there's no "My fake god is better than yours" then you would have different standard to off-set it against. You might still think their reason at that time would be a bad excuse. :)

Coup 01-23-2011 05:51 PM

they don't give a rip about alabama

PornDiscounts-R 01-23-2011 05:57 PM

Totally scary..

PornMD 01-23-2011 06:31 PM

Everyone is up in arms about that statement. I don't care - I'm glad I'm not his brother. Aren't you?
