Give him the Kaspersky!
Dude, you used "Free" and "antivirus" in the same breath. Don't do it. Use kaspersky or eset.
Why? I've been a crash test dummy for Microsoft Security essentials long enough. No good. AVG? The steam that rises from fresh poop is more valuable. |
check out malwarebytes works great..

I install Avast on all machines I build for sale, as well as install it on about 75% of the machines that I clean/repair that have some form of Nortons, McAfee, or AVG on them to begin with! |
IOBit Security 360 does the trick for me
just install microsofts free one.
Another vote for Avast, they finally enabled the boot-scan for 64 bit windows :thumbsup
Avast has a free one for 18 months at a time and then it pops a box asking for name and email and its renewed.
I'm using avast
avira av is solid product
just keep your machine updated and dont surf unknown sites and you will be ok
