Twitter followers

how to get them?
is it worth to buy them on ebay? I see 800 followers for $5.

You want groupies, not just followers.

candyflip 01-28-2011 07:05 AM

I've built up a few accounts with targeted followers before selling them off.

I used a combination of Tweet Deck and Hummingbird.

Those buy 800 for $5 type deals will just get your numbers up. What you want are people who are interested in your niche, so you need something to find and add them. Hummingbird was the key.

How are conversions with Twitter traffic?
I've found them to be horrible.

As with everything else, it all depends on what you're selling and who you're trying to sell it to.

OK. In your experience, and when weighed against the difficulty/effort of obtaining traffic via each source, how would you compare the conversion rates of Twitter traffic vs. traditional online traffic when selling a similar product to a similar target?
What's best with Twitter ? VOD?

candyflip 01-28-2011 07:34 AM

I don't target adult with Twitter, have only pushed mainstream niches.

Oracle Porn 01-28-2011 07:37 AM

im not trying to sell anything or get new traffic, just establish a brand

CaptainHowdy 01-28-2011 07:39 AM

Can't you buy some??

That's pretty much what I was trying to do as well.

Hummingbird was always the key.

Cool.
I did a highly targeted adult effort for about 6 weeks in Nov/Dec and was extremely disappointed with the conversions. With that being said, it was still worth it for the exposure.

Twitter's a lot of work actually... getting to 1k real followers is tough, but then it starts adding up quickly.

Not sure about the conversion ratio but yesterday for example from Twitter:
789 uniques - 5.11 Pages/per - 4:13 on site - 24% bounce

Which are better stats than the site average. :)

I've had discussions about this. The best twitter traffic is organically grown. But it's very time consuming.

You need followers in the thousands to really see some conversions and be creative in your tweets and not just spam users

Every time I add a model (few a day) or make a gallery (15-30 a day) I post it on twitter, plus go back and forth with models here and there...

It's a bit spammy, but I'll see 2-5 users lost when I post a bunch of links, but over the rest of the day the added users makes the 2-5 lost seem pretty small :thumbsup

I do something similar, but not as frequently. I rely more on retweets and mentions than I do followers. I was actually able to get a prime piece of Twitter real estate this morning that's led to 600 hits and counting.
