The Importance of Using Proper SEO

A good SEO practice is making sure you wear the right hat. By that I mean choosing the White Hat over the Black Hat. No it?s not a wardrobe malfunction. It is simply avoiding being an internet marketer that doesn?t follow the rule, i.e. wearing the black hat. The white hat approach and the black hat approach to mainstream marketing are the two main ways to go about it.

In the early years of internet marketing the internet did not differentiate between the two so it was easy to get away with bombardment techniques like having thousands of pages to a website that reflected the same information to attract hits. Unfortunately it is those shady practices that forced the hand of the SERP?s to reevaluate their logging methods and essentially blacklist anyone using those methods.

To go into more detail regard Black Hat protocol and what NOT to do, we?ll start with keyword stuffing. The main idea behind this is it packs a huge list of keywords onto your site and not any real legitimate material or content. This method worked for a while but as companies such as Yahoo, Google, and Bing have caught on to these practices, they have banned this style and have actually enacted penalties that lower offender?s ranks on the SERP?s.

Another poor practice underneath the Black Hat is the use of invisible text. This involves the placement of white colored text on a white background to try to boost the rankings of the site as these text items are logged as possible tags to the site. The real problem with this is that it can draws unsuspecting internet surfers to a site they don?t want to visit because of the hidden text within these type of pages. A definite No No.

The key to successfully implementing SEO marketing style to your business is to avoid web spamming, and start following the guidelines followed by the majority of other marketers. This will achieve proper placement on a SERP and in turn bring in the proper clientele. Hiring an SEO Consultant to manage this is the best way but if you are dead set on doing it on your own, do your research and follow a few rules.

The first thing to consider is your target market. The easiest part about that is that if you know the market you?re in you?ll be able to provide quality content for your readers and within that content you strategically place your keywords. This gives something good for potential customers to read and will give you good placement. This leads to the next idea which is a basic necessity in web design.

The use of title tags and meta tags are a basic way to achieve good results and use good SEO practices. The proper use of these words will give the search engines every reason to register your site. You may also want to include some of these keywords in your URL. No need to overdo it, but the right combination can help get your site to the top. Along with other methods like link wheeling and social media, you?ll be able to get the results you need without breaking any rules.

I like SEO

CyberDilemma 02-19-2011 03:04 PM

Black Hat means to always stay ONE STEP AHEAD of the search engines and the smart black hatters will always prevail over the white hatters. That's why your article fails. You are quoting techniques that are over a decade old. Let me ask you, are the white hat techniques you are using over a decade old too? Oh, wait....I just did a google search for the keyword phrase "most stupid SEO article ever written" and you are ranked #1. Ah, now we see what you are doing. Smart, very smart.

You should get better article writers, because the ones you have now are horrible.
