HELP! how to allow only my ip to access server, getting hacked

getting brute force attacks on my server and its slowing things down. How do I only allow certain IP's to gain access to whm, shell, ftp, cpanel, etc?

Hostgator won't help me with this issue. Maybe they just aren't experienced enough? We are using a dedicated server through them.

Deny the IP who access those files you want?

What OS are you running? A simple way is to use the software firewall on the server, (in Linux this would be iptables). Depending on your configuration (or control panel), you should be able to use a web based tool for config.

Tell me a bit more as to how you are setup so i can make a more accurate recommendation.

For managed dedicated hosting, don't use hostgator

I use SSH private keys instead of passwords. That way no one can brute force the ssh password. All of my devices, including my phone, have seperate keys, and if my phone gets lost/stolen I simply disable the key for it on the server.

If you have iptables you can go to /etc/iptables.up.rules to edit it and add lines to tell it to only allow your IP to access certain ports. I had a similar problem so if you need help, feel free to email me.
