Is online FOREX just a gian SCAM?

Is it a scam or is it just people losing money moaning and whining? Maybe the article below would be more credible if there's a side by side comparison of loss rates broken down by investment types. Anyway, posting it here cuz it's an interesting read.

An estimated 615,000 Americans are dabbling in foreign currency trading, encouraged by advertising from the two biggest U.S. brokers, FXCM Inc. and Gain Capital Holdings Inc., both based in New York.

Combined, FXCM and Gain have about 260,000 accounts, a third of them in the U.S.

These customers are losing money in spectacular fashion.

At FXCM, 75% to 77% of customers lost money each quarter last year, according to newly required disclosures to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. At Gain, which operates through http://www.forex.com, the number of unprofitable customers hovered between 72% and 79% every quarter last year, according to its filing.

it is not a scam but only a small percentage of people who actually know what they are doing are making money on it ..

just like with poker you need "fish" .. and just as with poker they are always looking for new fish ...

the more people that lose money on it , the more other people can make with it .. forex trading used to be only for Big Banks and you needed a lot of money to be able to do it ..

there was a reason it was like that ... only big money and expertise can generally speaking make real money on it .. all the rest can forgot about it ... but them pumping money in it makes it even more profitable

seeandsee 04-03-2011 05:13 PM

they fuck people legaly with forex

Sausage 04-03-2011 05:27 PM

Forex is definitely not a scam.

Of course you get idiots who don't understand currency movements and economics on there who are just essentially gambling, but if you know your shit then you can do very well on forex. You really do need to have your finger on the pulse though.

Forex is one of those things I've always been interested in but never pursued because there just isn't enough time in the day. Penny stocks, on the other hand, have recently become my new hobby/obsession...

AdultKing 04-03-2011 05:50 PM

That's all I want to do, look at ANOTHER page of stats and numbers!!

I might leave Forex to the people who like looking at screens full of stats.

A lot of people jump into it head first, instead of getting there toes wet a little without really doing some hardcore studying. You have to put in a lot of time reading paterns and so on so forth. Also, the leverage on Forex is much higher then on stocks. So it is a lot easier to lose money a lot faster.

PS. If anyone is doing automated trading with MetaTrader or something similar from home/office I might have something that interests you. Feel free to hit me on ICQ.

It' like any other 'business', people think it's easy to make money while in reality it takes work, commitment and creativity (the ability to think).

Klen 04-04-2011 04:14 AM

Funny i just signup to forex dot com before few days. But yes seems to make to make it work you need to lose money for first two or three years before you figure out how things works.

pornguy 04-04-2011 06:50 AM

Not a scam at all. you just need to know what you are doing what the currency is doing and hot to gauge if its going to drop or rise.

xmas13 04-04-2011 09:04 AM

No no, not a giant scam. Just a giant joke. :winkwink:

ottopottomouse 04-04-2011 09:09 AM

Good bit of fishing :)

moeloubani 04-04-2011 10:43 AM

Like 5 years ago I was just dabbling and lost $500 super quick in a Marketiva account. So easy to lose money with Forex you have to be able to wait something out in the long term.

I have my finger on someone's pulse right now, bro. Yours.

Basically it's all about support, resistance, pivot points and daily/weekly/monthly high/lows.

Study 1 currency pair and 2 related pairs and get to know their movements and habits.

Patience is the key factor. It also helps if you're connected with a Central Banker...

djroof 04-04-2011 10:57 AM

who cares with Forex?

The recent movement of USD/YEN from "all time low" of 76 back to 82 = investment of $10,000 rising to $80,000 if you "bet it all". Those profit/loss #'s show the 80/20 rule in effect.

Cyber Fucker 04-04-2011 11:09 AM

Not a scam.

:1orglaugh Just a coincidence since we have other older PLR packages. You don't see a rash of threads about debt consolidation or casinos or lawsuit loans, right?

Check out the first post's article link to put the loss rate in context
