Your Privacy and "People Search" sites
There's a site called Spokeo - a new online phone book w/your personal info: from pics you've posted on FB, your credit score, income, age, etc. (for a fee). Remove yourself by searching for yourself on their site, copying the URL of your page, then go to the bottom of the page and click on the "Privacy" button to remove yourself.
Anyone can search you and find your address and phone# in a second. |
Done.
Thanks for the link champ. :thumbsup |
*suspicious look* what if it's actually a site to harvest people searching for their own names? :winkwink:

Years ago I discovered I had a brother no one had ever told me about. To make a long story short, before the Internet, it was difficult to find someone if all you had was a name and a birthdate.
Did some research, and found a company in Florida that will tell you everything you needed to know about someone for $40. They sent me everything, including copies of phone bills and bank account statements. It was scary. |
You'd probably be better off seeding the internet with a bunch of bogus information instead. Open up a few Myspace, Facebook and Twitter accounts with your name and birthday all over your state and other states. Change the information around and tie it to random phone numbers and addresses. These sites don't verify the information. Not only will you be helping to protect your privacy but you'll also be helping to sabotage these sites. :)

this is nice stuff....but without permission , they are making the home address public.
