Coyotes are all buggered up about the possibility they might be moved to Winnipeg.

I plan on looking in on all of them, but I think I'm most looking forward to the Pens-Lightning game. Their series has been pretty...eventful... so far.

Also the Detroit-Phoenix game, just to see if the Redwings eliminate them tonight.

WebairGerard 04-20-2011 02:41 PM

Rangers to tie it up tonight! :thumbsup

I'd like to see them take game 5 at least, and make it a real series.

Honestly I'm a bit torn by this series, not knowing who to root the most for. On the one hand Vancouver IS a Canadian city, and the nucks ARE one of the two remaining Canadian-based teams in the running. But on the other hand both Patrick Sharpe and Jonathan Toews are Winnipeg boys, thus the hawks have the 'peg connection.

Honestly I'll be fine with whoever wins, but I gotta say I'm inclined to hope the Chicago-Winnipeg connection does well. If they can pull this one out of the toilet and take it to a game 7 this will be the series to end all series.

CDSmith 04-21-2011 07:20 AM

I can't believe no one has comments about last night's games.

PR_Glen 04-21-2011 07:27 AM

pittsburgh tampa game was intense there at the end... I haven't been watching much but that game caught my eye for sure...

CDSmith 04-21-2011 07:43 AM

Rangers fans must be reeling this morning. 3-0 lead blown, end up losing 4-3 in OT.

Coyotes - OUT, lose 6-3, sweeped 4 games-to-goose-egg. (are they now moving back to Winnipeg?)

The Pens - Lightning game was indeed intense at times. Watched a lot of it, good game.

Ducks hammer Nashville 6-3

Flyers lose in a sqeaker 1-0 to Buffalo.

Evil Chris 04-21-2011 07:55 AM

Too bad for the Coyotes. Detroit just too strong for them.

I'm looking at a WEST FINAL: Detroit vs Vancouver. Tough to call but I'll take VAN.
EAST FINAL: Philadelphia vs Montreal. I'll take PHI.

So the finals.... PHI vs VAN.

Winner. PHI

Hopefully this is how it pans out :thumbsup

Would love to kill the habs again, fucking hate them with a passion! :1orglaugh

Evil Chris 04-21-2011 08:07 AM

West is easy to see who's going to the end.

East is difficult, as the talent is so even. Depth and playoff grit will be the difference.

Oh man if the Hawks could storm back and win the series (which I actually kind of doubt) that would be just so indicitive of Canucks playoff hockey. To go from one of the best (if not the best?) NHL seasons of any team, ever, all the way to up 3 games to 0 and then completely choke and fail right out would be classic Canucks.

Also, I'd get to laugh at all the jackasses driving around with their Canadian Tire Canucks flags hanging off their beaters even harder than I already do.

But I can't see the Hawks coming back.

Sportsfans just amaze me. Who has the fucking time to sit around and watch 3-5 hours of OTHER people playing sports? In my experiece, it's mostly guys that can't be bothered to actually go play sports themselves. I guess to each their own.

You don't watch sports? Just because people watch sports doesn't make them couch slugs.

Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

One can get a lot of sense of what happened in a game with good ol TSN highlights. 15 minutes and you're good to go, try it sometime.

The only time I even watch a full game of hockey is during the playoffs. Played the game for over 21 years myself, I think that's enough. I still love the game though.

No, that's not what I meant although looking backing at what I said I can see how you would think that.

I don't mean people that like to watch sports here and there. I was talking about the true "Sportsfan" that watches probably 20+ hours a week of Sports on television, puts their favourite team logos all over their car and sits around at the bar with his buddies having in-depth debates about how their favourite team ("we") is doing or going to do.

Whenever I come across this social disaster situation I always laughingly call them "Sportsfan" as a proper noun. You know the type.

but I think your prediction is good on this one Chris... Phily VS Vancouver and the orange jerseys winning the cup...

Okay that's much clearer. Agreed.

I also take issue with the fans at the actual games who A) bang on the glass at every opportunity (makes loud noises blast out of my tv and I really don't appreciate it, idiots)
and B) the fans who get pisstanked and pick fights with the players. Complete wastes of oxygen.

So most here are assuming Vancouver has the west in the bag then? I'm thinking getting the most points in a season means this much in the playoffs ---> squatdiddly.

The last time the Canucks got trounced real good in a game this year was against... guess who? That's right, the BLACKHAWKS.

I am very much looking forward to tonight's game. :D

You're right that the last time they got beat this badly it was by the Blackhawks. What you didn't mention though, is that many people credit that beating as the turning point on the way to a fantastic season for Vancouver.

Don't get me wrong, I am no Canucks fan and I would love to seem them fail, but it doesn't look too good for the Blackhawks in this series.

Do they storm to the finals. Maybe yes, maybe no, but I can't see them breaking the curse this year.

Evil Chris 04-21-2011 11:02 AM

Vancouver is a much different team this year. Can they win 16 games, though?

PR_Glen 04-21-2011 11:12 AM

I don't know how anyone can bet on hockey, I consider myself pretty knowledgeable of the game and it seems it can go either way on any given night... especially with teams lying about injuries the whole playoffs..

Far-L 04-21-2011 11:32 AM

Homegrown Video loves Penguins in Bondage Babeeeeee

Most other sports I just watch at Play-off time except maybe some highlights on ESPN... but hockey is another story.

I play in an adult league in Seattle and am pretty much a total rink rat going to as many drop-ins as I can hit without my girl threatening to cut my balls off.

I love watching hockey and come play-off time I can't get enough - which is fucked because I pay for the sports package but they stop at play offs leaving only what VS, NBC, or CBC offers for the most part.

So... rooting for Pens but thinking I agree with Chris about Phi vs Canucks but see potential for longshot with Sharks vs. Washington.

You want annoying fans? Come to a Silvertips WHL game with me sometime... They don't understand the game - cheer ecstatically and ding a ling their freaking cowbells like maniacs when someone - hold your breath... ices the puck...

Correct. But there are still those who think that because of that beating and the one the other night that it's possible the Blackhawks have their number.

And to all those saying "I can't see them coming back from a 3-0 deficit" let me tell you, if Vancouver can win 3 straight so can Chicago. It doesn't happen often, granted. I recall it happening to my former Winnipeg Jets back in the mid 80's when we were up 3 games to 0 on the Oilers (Gretzky & co. at the height of their reign of terror no less). Winnipeg fans thought we had that series sewn up only to watch game after game go down the tubes until the final loss in game 7.

Edmo went on to win the cup again that year of course.

Just saying...don't for a second think it absolutely can't happen. I too doubt it will, but I won't ever say can't. Not after seeing it happen with mine own eyes.

rather see a san jose vs caps finals, two offenses just going at each other. could be one of the highest goal scoring finals...

oh and the caps-rangers game last night?? nyr lost on a shitty goal but damn the first three they let in?? shouldn't have gotten to that point...

Curious. Do you feel the same way toward people who do this with TV shows? there are plenty of people out there who watch 20+ hours of TV per week and talk about their favorite shows with other people or spend time online looking up info about their favorite shows?

What about people who play video games 20+ hours per week.

Just curious if your feelings are aimed mostly at sports fans or if it goes wider than that.

BTW I agree with you about the people who talk about teams to no end. I am fan of sports and have teams I like and will sometimes discuss the team with other friends/fans, but I'm not one of those guys who follows every move of the team. And anytime I hear someone say "we" or "our" when referring to the team they like I always think of Seinfeld when he says he doesn't understand how people will go to a game and afterwards say, "We won." No, he tells them, they won, you watched.

Evil Chris 04-21-2011 07:56 PM

Q. Is it a case of the Canucks choking or is it a case of the Blackhawks having gotten their heads out of their asses and are now playing at the level they are meant to play at? I mean, Chicago has a core of great playmakers and snipers, as well as several guys that can take and give a hit.

Personally I think it's a bit of both. I don't think the Canucks were quite ready for the real Blackhawks to show up in game 4, and still weren't adjusted enough for them in game 5. (maybe they didn't think the change in the Blackhawks's game would last beyond the one game?)

Either way, this is now a series. If Chicago wins game 6 back in their home arena Sunday night then game 7 could very well be the "actual" Stanley cup game of these playoffs.

The winning goal in that Mtl-Boston game last night was offside. Anyone else catch that?

I had a feeling the Bruins were going to find a way to win that one regardless, but I'm surprised no habs fans are in here yelling about that last goal.
