Bought the new MacBook Pro today!

I bought the new MacBook Pro 13" today, i5 processor. It's awesome. Now to work out who to give my previous one to! :winkwink:

Now I have to set up all my favourite apps. Adium and Skype first!

Icy 06-01-2011 04:46 AM

I purchased mine 2 months ago, high end 15" i7 and I have even replaced my main Windows 7 PC for daily work with it, so i can carry my work from office to work daily (in the past i had a notebook for home/trips and PC at the office that i had to sync etc).

I thought i would lose a lot of time getting used to OSX after years of windows, but i was wrong, got it fully working with all my standard aps installed in less than a week, as most of them were either OSX supported or found alternatives.

I know you pay brand with Macs and was always against that, but i can see why now and don't regret expending the $2100 at all.

I have a 17" and love it but with Windows 7 on it lol

candyflip 06-01-2011 05:01 AM

I just got the 15'' with the i7 and love it...and that's after swearing off Apple hardware. Could use some more RAM, but that's a quick fix.

Still haven't seen any Thunderbolt peripherals.

AnimeFevers 06-01-2011 05:03 AM

I'll buy your previous one from you :)

AdultKing 06-01-2011 05:04 AM

I went for the 13" because of size, if I need bigger I use the iMac.

OS X is a great OS, probably the best desktop OS ever.

CurrentlySober 06-01-2011 05:14 AM

i cant afford NOT to have a mac...

Nicky 06-01-2011 05:17 AM

I'll never buy a mac laptop, not sure why but It just seems like paying for something that isn't there.

I bought my Acer Aspire with a Core i5 and 8gb ram for $1k. Does It for me.

I paid $1249 for my MacBook Pro, pretty good deal actually. I bet my new MacBook Pro long outlives your $1000 Acer!

Ravage 06-01-2011 07:16 AM

I bought a macbook pro a couple months ago. 15" i7. Been using it a lot for video editing and encoding.

I bet It does too but I will for sure buy a new one within 2 years. Cost of business :)

Also this is Swedish pricing, the cheapest mac book pro with a i5 here is $1700.

1,5 year old 13" macbook pro here, but designers need bigger screens :) so i only watch porn on it.

CIVMatt 06-01-2011 10:18 AM

I use my mac book pro to set my monitor on to raise it up an inch. My old powermac is used as a door stop with a candle on top of it, wax dripped down the sides from the 100 or so candles that sat on it before.

New OS X

The new Mac operating system Lion is due out, possibly this month. The Mac Developers meeting is next week. Usually if you just bought a Mac, they'll give you a free upgrade.
I'm waiting on the upgrades to Mac Air & Mac Mini. They too are due.
I always buy at Nebr Furniture as I get free interest if I pay off in 2 years. And since they sell so many Macs, it's cheaper than going to the Apple store.

My 13" Macbook works great, i have it hooked up to two 22" Screens at the office and when i'm at home i just lie on the couch and watch tv and work away.

I am probably going to replace mine in the next few months and go with a slightly larger Macbook Pro 15". I don't need a huge screen for design work and such...

You don't know what you're missing. Macs are great.

Agreed, they not only have the best desktop OS that will increase your productivity, they will run Windows Linux or any other x86 OS when you need it to also. :thumbsup

Got one of the 15" i5's when they came out. Still waiting for a use for the ThunderBalls port, but the machine is fast as all hell.

The 15" i7 machines are nice. I needed something smaller, I have bigger macs for my real work. This new MacBook Pro is a replacement for my aging Powerbook so I can work in bed when my MS prevents me doing much else. The small size makes it more convenient.

marlboroack 06-01-2011 06:38 PM

Nice man, i would have spent 200$ more and got the i7!!

Adam X 06-02-2011 12:28 AM

Will upgrade my macbook for a thunderbolt macbook i7 at some point.. windows 7 is ok but Apple nailed it. Not to mention Windows 8 os is coming and its going to be Microsoft's demise for business computing if you've seen it.
