Anyone outside US and Canada using Hostgator? No coupons for you!!!
I setup a cheap hostgator hosting account some time ago. It's a pretty basic/simple and cheap hosting and according to my current needs.
I was very happy with it, never had anything to complain about until today. When I registered they advertised $100 Google AdWords + $25 Yahoo+Bing Pay-Per-Click Advertising Credits. (thought those might be useful sometimes) Since I didn't need to use them at that time, I just let them be planning a later use when my site/WL will have a decent appearance. Today I checked my account and surprise...no more $100 Google AdWords + $25 Yahoo+Bing. Contacted their live support and they informed me that the offer was only for US and Canada customers...though I could not see anything about this when I purchased their services. How about you guys? did you get "ripped-off" too? did you read the fine print "conveniently" placed here: http://support.hostgator.com/article...ing/bing-yahoo and here: http://support.hostgator.com/article...google-adwords Can't say that I am sorry for the money I paid for the hosting...service was ok so far but....wtf...don't advertise it if you are not going to provide it. I feel discriminated!!! |
can't blame them, anyone outside of the US or Canada is a shit head.

You've made a wise decision joining hostgator...it is annoying about the coupons but they don't go far

Says pretty clear right there "Offer valid only for sign ups through the URL provided for the promotion by customers with billing address and IP address in the US or Canada. "
If this got you this upset, I would hate to see when something really goes wrong in your life. |
USA!
USA! USA! USA! USA! http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...dBaldEagle.jpg Now see if you had a USA corporation or two, you could get all kinds of cupons and register a gazillion domains to those corporations but what the fuck do I know? |
I would say that's a very stupid decision from HostGator and google or whatever company was that.
Since they give the coupons only to customers who have proven that they have working credit card, it's a great chance that customers would keep using the credit card after "coupons" have expired.. And by limiting themself just to US and Canada Hostgator (or whatever) just throw money out of their pocket. just my 2cents |

Agreed, it says it clearly but do you actually read the entire support portal each time you purchase an online service? (do most people even read the ToS??? - I only did it to make sure they didn't have an issue with adult) |
Just to spare some pain just in case you want to go with cheap hosting, and you're not from the USA... DreamHost pulls the same shit. "If you buy hosting for one year, you get x.xx amount off! <ubersmall>Unless you live somewhere not in the USA, but we won't tell you that *after* you bought the service.</ubersmall>"
