Would be interesting to see some long term stats on the decisions made on that show. I wouldn't be surprised if they psychoanalyze potential contestants in order to choose pairs and achieve a reasonably predictable outcome.

I read some stats on university studies in this matter a while ago and generally people tend to share the prize. I would have to dig up the link though for more specific info.
