US doesn't make cut for happiest nations list

Oh my god ..... But hope that Palin runs, if not happy at least it will be funny ... :)

The ten nations on this list are rich in natural resources or highly developed service sectors. These are assets which are in short supply worldwide, and that bolsters the foundations of the economies in these countries. Money alone doesn't buy happiness, but it sure helps.

This is the 24/7 Wall St list of the Ten Countries With The Happiest People, most of which have bought and paid for prosperity because their economies have allowed them to do so.
US of A .... not there ....

There daily killings of camel jockeys makes them very very happy !

Blame Obama!

Can't understand this. To me consistent good climate is the most important thing for 'happiness', but 8 out of the 10 including the top 3 are freezing cold places for most of the year.

A great climate doesn't mean anything if the country is dirt poor.

I don't know. You can live pretty well in a somewhat poor country (costa rica, panama, uruguay, argentina come to mind) when you have a bit of money. Of course if the country is super poor, all bets are off as its likely to be quite dangerous for you. With good climate you can golf every day. Just a matter of priorities I guess.:1orglaugh

Yeah, but the majority of people in poor countries are poor...that's why countries like Costa Rica don't make the list...the "rich" people there are vastly outnumbered by the poor people.

If Austria is so awesome, why did the Governator come here?

I'm in Uruguay now and I can tell you the climate is by no means great. I'm freezing my ass off right now. Argentina isn't much better: these are not tropical climates, the winters can be tough.

But to respond to your post, of course, you can live well anywhere if you have a nice income. But I'm sure that poll doesn't relate to how happy rich people are.

L-Pink 06-06-2011 08:09 PM

Well that's depressing ........

woj 06-06-2011 08:09 PM

that settles it, socialism is the way to go....

Sure, but I wasn't really picking Uruguay as a tropical climate (and don't think a tropical climate is actually ideal) but its definitely nice and temperate all year round (take montevideo for example...you can golf comfortably almost every day of the year). Maybe a couple cold months, but nothing bone chilling like you would find in Norway for instance.

Yeah agree with most on that list, and been to a few so know its pretty spot on. Surprised New Zealand didn't make the cut.

D Ghost 06-06-2011 11:16 PM

I don't think the USA ever made that list. Put a bunch of rats on antidepressants and make them race, never going to end well...

But having money and being happy are two different things.

Mutt 06-06-2011 11:35 PM

Do a real world test. Walk into a restaurant in Toronto or Vancouver or have a stay at a hotel for a few days then repeat that in pick any two American cities and compare which people seem to be happier. Canadians have the personality of wet dish rags compared to Americans who are friendly and outgoing.

I guess the reason we are so happy in Denmark, is because we were the first country to liberate Porn :thumbsup

With VAT and all taxes, we get less than 40% of the money we earn to spend on ourselves :Oh crap

Also more than half the population is living off the minority of people actually making money. I guess that's why they are so happy :disgust

I got a fuck and blowjob in the dunes on Saturday and video taped it, that makes me happy :1orglaugh

calvinawe 06-07-2011 01:20 AM

I'm kinda surprised that Japan isn't on the list.

Doesn't surprise me really.
Barely any vacation time, shitty insurance (or too expensive) , 1/2 the country is taking zoloft or paxil

The only one I find shocking is Isreal but I have never been there.

digi 06-07-2011 05:33 AM

I bet America isn't happy because the whole country just seems to be about work, making money, buying things.. how can you be happy with two weeks vacation?

People don't seem to know how to relax and enjoy themselves on a daily basis, just stress stress stress

That'S cause Canadian are happy enought they don't need to be friendly with every american tourist that comes and visit. :upsidedow

USA is not in the top 10 happiest countries list - that's interesting. Probably it's impossible to label a country with an emotion. It's better to study emotions of people. Top 10 happiest people list would make more sense. Keep in mind, happy people travel through dozens of different countries in their lives.
