Dropbox leaves user accounts unlocked for 4 hours

Dropbox leaves user accounts unlocked for 4 hours

At a time when hackers are on a tear looting information willy-nilly from insecure sites on the Web, Dropbox did the unthinkable Sunday -- it allowed anyone in the world to access any one of its 25 million customers' online storage lockers -- simply by typing in any password.

This is what I've been talking about. Alot of companies are using 3rd party products like dropbox to share confidential company documents and information.

You would think people would learn after Twitter projections were leaked from their google docs accts.

Dropbox is neat, it's a great way to share files between friends, but that's the extent of it. I know a few multi million dollar companies who have boasted about using drop box. It's an open door :(

I uninstalled Dropbox today. They seem to get hacked a lot.

I want to be able to store the files in encrypted form on my own servers but so far there isn't a client for Windows out yet for these apps:

Anyone know a good alternative that can do what I want?

I noticed dropbox for some reason installed on my cent os machine when doing yum update, seems people dont realize how hard it sucks.

I use it for images backwards and forwards between people but don't have it synced to my computers. No different to using somewhere like hotfile or rapidshare for their actual advertised purpose just without the stigma that seems to come from giving someone a hotfile link to something.

This is one of the many reasons I wish people would get the fuck off of the "cloud."

The clouds can be a scary place.

I love Dropbox. I keep tons of files there. Don't keep anything confidential in the cloud, and then it's no big deal.
