won.com sold for 115k

Do you think this was a good deal or a bad deal? Not a ton of good 3 letter domains that actually mean things.

Thoughts?

Emil 07-07-2011 01:33 PM

I think it was a pretty good deal, I would have guessed that it would sell for a lot more.

moeloubani 07-07-2011 01:34 PM

seems like a fair price

TubeKing 07-07-2011 01:42 PM

seems about right, win.com is obviously worth more.

marlboroack 07-07-2011 01:46 PM

Is it like "Won" : She Won the game. Or like "Won": the name of Japanese man or Won-ton soup.

Bama 07-07-2011 01:46 PM

i own wininstantly.com - haven't really done anything with it yet though i'm seriously considering it. you can't walk into a store and not see "Win Instantly" on products being sold so there should be some workable value there for me

InfoGuy 07-07-2011 02:00 PM

Won.com is a good short domain for a gambling site. The only drawback is phonetically, it sounds like "one".

MrCain 07-07-2011 02:09 PM

Good to get win.com typo traffic.

czarina 07-07-2011 02:10 PM

pretty cheap

biskoppen 07-07-2011 02:12 PM

Charlie Sheen probably bought it

djroof 07-07-2011 02:15 PM

nice deal ....

Sound about right, maybe a little less then it's worth but the economy is sour right now. So right on par for the time.

Lykos 07-07-2011 02:53 PM

Looks like good sale for me

nikki99 07-07-2011 03:57 PM

won.com I think we have a winner :)

HomerSimpson 07-07-2011 04:03 PM

looks to me like a good deal...

seeandsee 07-07-2011 04:05 PM

You should be able to sell it or develop it yourself using online sweepstakes.

Maybe develop it for as little as possible and then sell with with the extra value built-in to make it more appealing.

As for won.com, I'm surprised it didn't sell for more. The adult industry market is pretty dead but mainstream is still strong(ish), no? [I don't know]

VikingMan 07-07-2011 04:48 PM

Just think how every fucking time you say the domain name in a conversation with a person not familiar with the site you would have to make sure the person does not hear one.com instead of won.com.:2 cents:

I think it was a fair price. Would not sell it for any less if I owned it.

Splum 07-07-2011 05:04 PM

At 115k that is a fucking steal, the world economy will come back slowly and internet business will still continue to grow even at a stunted rate.

I am fucking amazed how cheap that went cant believe some of you guys seem to think its fair market price.

mineistaken 07-07-2011 05:32 PM

good price

GTS Mark 07-07-2011 06:12 PM

Was there any business attached to the domain or just the domain itself?

'duh, wonning'...

That has a nice ring to it..

uno 07-07-2011 06:19 PM

sounds 20-30k overpriced in the current market to me.

cherrylula 07-07-2011 06:21 PM

I wouldn't buy it for that much. Not now.

XPays 07-07-2011 06:39 PM

a steal for the buyer, and liquidation price for seller

I am of same belief. I am in a similar situation with a 3 letter domain. Internet does not seem to be going anywhere but up, so it's a tough call

GAMEFINEST 07-07-2011 07:13 PM

great sale, kinda cheap

Kelli58 07-07-2011 07:33 PM

The smartest people are those who realize that just because things suck today doesn't mean they will tomorrow. They are buying up those $150,000 houses that are now being sold for $50,000 and sitting on them because they know in a few years things will start to improve and they'll make their money back big time. Same goes for domain names. Find a steal, sit on it and in a few years be glad you did.

porno jew 07-07-2011 08:03 PM

shitty domain, but most of the population is illiterate now so might work.

d-null 07-07-2011 08:26 PM

I thought even random three letter dot coms are 5 figures

this seems lower than it would have sold for 2 years ago :2 cents:

random 3 character .com ( 9z7 dot com, etc ) domains are mid XXX roughly.

This sale price does seem low to me.

Random shitty letter ones these days are $3,500 - $4,500 if I'm not mistaken. I haven't dealt with any in quite some time though.

As for the name, I think it looks and sounds better than it really is. Won/One ambiguity kinda sucks (win doesn't have the same problem), kind of odd alone as past tense (I Won, You Won and Win sound natural, Won doesn't) and it's a nice word but doesn't immediately connote one specific area. Is it sweepstakes? Lottery? Contests? Games? Shit like at the recently launched Prizes.org? Win.com would have that same issue of course, but it's a much better name.

$115k goes a long way in domains these days. I'm not sure I'd say the buyer overpaid, but bargain? I don't think so. IMO it's a fair price for both sides.

WinInstantly.com would be worth considerably more than Won.com :2 cents:

cooldude7 07-08-2011 03:39 AM

fair deal at these days.

AmateurCool 07-08-2011 04:37 AM

I think its a very worthy domain. won gets win typos. Still some big dollars in mainstream typos

Dirty Dane 07-08-2011 05:15 AM

Congrats to the winner.

beks001 07-08-2011 06:11 AM

Good sale. The buyer won in my opinion here......

adultchatpay 07-08-2011 07:06 AM

i wish i have a time machine and go back to the early days of world wide web. So i can register all these domains, I'm probably richer than Mallick now.
