Which Christian organization have you ever heard of that did not have an anti-porn stance? It has nothing to do with how many Christians admit to watching it. When you drop change in that red bucket, you arent donating to an individual.

There's a world of difference between struggling with lust, as many Christians reported, and supporting widespread porn.
The idea of Christianity is to try to do better than whatever you feel like doing, to make an effort to be better. It doesn't mean you aren't tempted. (Though drunk sluts are LESS tempting when you have a living wife at home.)

Donating means i am paying for that message , even if in a small way.

I don't tell people not to go to church because they are against porn, and i won't tell people not to donate for the same reason, but they sure won't get squat from me.

Supporting the bucket means supporting the censorship of our freedoms..

I know they are a christian organization. That is not the issue for me, but I must admit that I was genuinely surprised that they are taking a public stance on something that is now "mainstream"...

In addition, we as an industry, when you come down to it, film people having sex with each other. It is an act that millions of people worldwide are doing at this very moment!

And if people are not having sex with someone now, something makes me think that it is something that they wish that they were doing.

In itself, there is nothing wrong with sex. No one disputes that sex is even healthy. This industry is demonized because "oh my God, your filming people fucking?!?". In the end, I mean really, who gives a shit. Adult should be a non issue at this point, with all of the real issues people, companies and governments should be dealing with right now. Blah!

I'd usually always give to them during winter when they're out there ringing their bell. Last year the dickhead ringing his bell constantly didn't even look at me, say thank you or anything when I threw money in there. Another reason for me not to give them a penny or any donations. :321GFY

while i would like to think that is an isolated case, it just so happens last year i had the exact same experience. The lady behind the bell was an obvious junkie.. i always donate , and something rubbed me the wrong way, this lady was scratching her arms and face that had open sores.. no smile , no merry christmas, just ring ring ring. i felt bad because i honestly didn't feel comfortable donating, didn't feel comfortable sending my kids up one at a time to stick money in the bucket like they usually do, we actually drove out of our way to find a wal-mart ( because i had a sneaky suspicion they would be there :) ) to donate there.. i am all for helping others , even junkies, but not like that..

Shady businesses will do anything to look good. They are just too dumb to realize that no one is falling for there scam and people are smarter then in the 70's when they though of this brilliant PR idea. Now people know porn is not a bad thing.

Salvation Army do a lot of good work but they need to understand it only takes 1 go at offending and existing donor with their stance on something that they are hoping will pick up donations in one area to lose them from another.

Maybe guilty christians donate more, so pour on the guilt and they'll dig a little deeper.

I actually have family high ranking members of the Salvation Army in their hick town. I have zero to do with it or them really, other than FB. Teenage cousin always thinking she's pregnant, but goes to the Salvation Army camp and is a counselor. LOL yep.... send your kids to camp so she can teach them. ha ha ha

agree 100%... One pastor or one group of pastors makes one claim and everyone starts pointing fingers unjustly at a whole organization. This one lives and breathes charity, not just for kids, not just for christians but real people in need. Don't have a job? Don't have a home address? Don't have nice clothes to go to interviews? They will not only set you up they will give you a phone number to use for that very purpose. Faith doesn't even come up, they just help.

I have never been a christian, but I have been around people involved in this church when I was younger and I thought they were obsessive kooks because they would go to church 3 or 4 times a week.. Then I found out why, they are obsessive about helping people, which is as closest to following the bible that I have ever witnessed.

Oh and my friends in the church? Loved porn more than i did... they still bug me for passwords ;)

I completely agree. Its one organization that really does adopt the "charity starts at home" Philosophy. I believe they have long adopted an anti-porn stance, especially when it comes to addiction. They also deal with alcohol addiction, gambling addiction (which is the reason they have turned down very large donations from lottery winners) I always throw money in the bucket, or donate used items to them, since I know where the proceeds are going, back into the community I live in.

also add that it's a public stand that no one would even know existed unless they saw it here. googling around shows zero impact on the world.

99% of charities are fucking scams. sa is not. i could go downtown and see them actively helping people, no questions asked. their money goes back to the poor and those who need a temp help out.

frankly, pulling money out over something with zero real world effect makes you look selfish and petty. sorry.

every christiain organization is against porn, more or less. personally i never donate to faith based organizations because while they do a lot of good work, they always have to push their religious agenda on those they are 'saving'. i wish there were some charties who do good without other motives in mind.
