Family washed away by flash flood..right over the edge of a waterfall

i wonder what they were thinking as they all let go at once it looked like

or slipped at once i guess
anyway, sad shit

atom 07-20-2011 10:51 AM

That is horribly sad.

RuthB 07-20-2011 10:54 AM

it really is amazing the things people film these days...

very sad

Gabriel 07-20-2011 10:57 AM

Its sad to think they were only 5 feet away from safety.

96ukssob 07-20-2011 10:59 AM

that is horrible. what goes through peoples minds that they would put themselves in that danger :helpme

magicmike 07-20-2011 11:00 AM

looks like the first three could have made it if they didn't stop for the last person.

marketsmart 07-20-2011 11:01 AM

that selfish lady killed them all...

i bet the freefall was pretty fun though....

.

candyflip 07-20-2011 11:02 AM

They were a little too close to that giant waterfall to begin with.

JamesGw 07-20-2011 11:04 AM

That's pretty messed up. The lady in the blue took them all with her.

First of all, it was probably the grandmother, and secondly, I'm sure that even if she had tried to let go, the rest of the family was still holding on to her hands. I have spent a lot of time around Indian families and the importance of family is paramount to them. They never would have let go of her.

Blaming one of them for such a horrifyingly sad event is just so silly and provincial I don't even know what to say.

Yep, the first 10 seconds it was a clear path and for whatever reason some just stopped or actually walked towards the rushing water and found a rock.

i didnt see you in the video, so i am assuming that you werent there...

also, i did not see you mention the families name, so again, i must assume that you did not personally know them and what kind of relationship they had with each other.

with that being the case, you can not prove my opinion right or wrong..

i win, and i accept your apology...

.

magicmike 07-20-2011 11:43 AM

They were on a picnic I read.

Even if we void my assumptions (which were based on the title of the video as well as the apparent actions of the central figures.), and start with no info or inferences, close and careful viewing seems to show that the guy furthest upstream is actually the first to slip, knocking over the rest of them bowling pin style. This shows that it doesn't look to be the ladies fault either way.

I don't care who wins, and an apology for a forum debate seems worthless....

Oh, and 2 of them survived it said as well.

bad call on trying to wait :( RIP

blackmonsters 07-20-2011 11:59 AM

It's weird how people see shit that is not there.

The first 3 got stopped by the water and one turned around for the lady in blue.
So the lady in blue did not stop the first people from getting to safety.

Once the water hit their feet they were fucked. It's moving too fast.

The lady in blue did not "bring them down"; it's actually the 2 males and smaller female on the other side that go down first and the lady in blue is actually keeping them from
being peeled off the rock for a second or two.

But whatever, someone people always look for someone to blame no matter what
happens.

Sad :(:(:(

Matt 26z 07-20-2011 02:49 PM

1. Blue coat woman did this.
2. She is not related to them.

I have analyzed this video frame by frame to come to these conclusions.

There are 100+ people on the riverbank to see the waterfall start flowing again. Some are hiking around on the riverbed rocks while waiting. This isn't a problem for those that remain vigilant and close to the riverbank. However, blue coat woman and another woman are far away (likely peering over the side of the waterfall).

This appears to be a mother, father, two kids and an unrelated woman wearing a blue coat.

The father waits on the rock for his wife. Because of that, his two kids do not run for the riverbank while they still have time. They stick by their father. They should have ran.

He then puts out his arm for his wife, but not blue coat woman; thus pointing to her being unrelated. He appears to hug his wife while blue coat woman is still in danger. He doesn't seem to care about her at all.

Brother and sister are on the top rock doing fine. They could stay there for hours. Husband and wife are set up on the lower rock. Not a great place to be, but they seem to have their footing and are unlikely to be swept away. Now comes blue coat woman to kill them.

She takes the man with her left arm and wants to be a little more secure so she takes the kids with her right arm. Everyone is secure except for blue coat woman. She can't get her footing. She begins moving her right foot up and down. Then she leans forward, causing her arm and brothers arm to push sister down and brother is immediately pulled down with her.

Blue coat woman now has no footing, falls and pulls everyone into the water with her.

Darwin Award nominees.

There are signs there telling people not to do the shit that these people did and the signs are in multiple languages.

Tragic yes but you can't fix stupid.

And besides, what kind of Goddamned idiots fuck around at the edge of a waterfall?

AnimeFevers 07-20-2011 03:53 PM

This is tragic :(

If it were my family I wouldn't let them go.

If 2 of them did survive thats really good, hard to believe anyone could survive a fall like that though.

seeandsee 07-20-2011 04:00 PM

You create your own luck, you also create your own tragedy.
