sounded pretty interesting. good idea for a movie prequel...

dyna mo 08-04-2011 08:19 AM

dang, 10/10. i must see now! the original for me, whew, mind-blown.

the statue of liberty scene was awesome for a kid my age and more importantly, the film had that uber super hottie nova. it would be cool if this new film ends with a statue beach scene

Slick 08-04-2011 09:09 AM

WOW, even the critics give it an 82% average so far at Rotten Tomatoes !

bronco67 08-04-2011 10:15 AM

Leave it to Hollywood to feel the need to explain why and how apes took over the planet -- because we were all sitting around wondering about it.

lagcam 08-04-2011 10:26 AM

I always wondered how those Apes got control of us in the future.

SleazyDream 08-04-2011 10:27 AM

they're following star wars lead..........

bronco67 08-04-2011 10:35 AM

Can anyone explain where all those damn apes are coming from in San Francisco? How many could there possibly be in the zoo? It's raining fucking apes all of a sudden.

Markul 08-04-2011 10:58 AM

Good to hear, going to the drive in tonight to watch it :thumbsup

Shit man, me either - I bet they are costly. You'll need a killer projector, a big ass screen and a fucking radio station. Oh and a big ass lawn for people to park on.

But I can afford tickets :pimp

It's better than most of the crap Hollywood has been throwing at us.

Check this article out. It's a good laugh.

Wow, they really are doing the devil's work.

There are hundreds of brilliant scripts floating around -- it's just that Hollywood doesn't have the balls to gamble.

this is not a re imagining of that film

tim burton did that fuck job years ago

this is technically a re imagining of the movie conquest for the planet of the apes.

Gonna shoplift some popcorn and download a pirated copy?

.

bronco67 08-06-2011 09:14 AM

Loved that movie. Saw it last night.

It's not really about apes taking over the planet, it's a much smaller story -- and at end you can infer how earth becomes a planet filled with intelligent apes.

The acting behind the lead CGI chimp is amazing. I can't remember the last time I was so emotionally attached to a character. There was some really heartbreaking shit in that movie -- bring a Kleenex bitches.

I don't really think it's a re-imagining, it's more of another take on it like in a series, in a way. They've made, what, 3 so far, this being the 3rd? I haven't seen it yet but I'm guessing it's more or less the rise, hence the title, like how it all started.

That's exactly it. There's no "chimpocalypse" in the movie -- so the scale is small. But that's OK, its a really great story.

C4W 08-07-2011 10:14 AM

twas the same dude and the same technique used to create gollum in lord of the rings.
that dude deserves an oscar for his performance in this film.
james franco however, deserves a beating.
for real, he is the ONLY bad thing about this movie.
if ya gotta take a leak or buy popcorn or whatever, do it during one of his monologues.

2intense 08-07-2011 10:57 AM

Thanks for the pointers... never been a big fan of Franco but I think this movie still deserved to be seen in the theater :thumbsup
