.XXX domains

So what's going on with .xxx domains? Isn't today the day to buy? Are you guys buying them? $200 a domain, what a rip!

BFT3K 09-07-2011 08:25 AM

This is what buying .xxx domain names is like...

If you are an adult trademark holder, before a certain date, then yes your date is today. ICM has made it clear that if you participate in this portion of the roll out, you are indeed supporting and endorsing .XXX as a viable extension. Buyer beware.

Here are the rates for GoDaddy.

http://i53.tinypic.com/35n81z5.png

Landrush goes out at 199.00 per domain per year.

General availability many months from now at 99.00 per year.

Good luck.

Radishdreams 09-07-2011 08:26 AM

Im about to launch my startup but i dont think i will use a xxx version of our domain. ill start with a COM then maybe buy the xxx and link it later. I think the price is so high so squatters dont try to buy up a bunch and you cant really get any typo traffic so i dont think the XXX will be a big hit.

Emil 09-07-2011 08:27 AM

Pfff... I aint buying shit. It's a overpriced shit-domain-extension that most adult-webmasters doesn't seem to want.

ottopottomouse 09-07-2011 09:18 AM

Been talking about it on the radio today. From the people who have phoned in surprisingly even the usual easily-lead dopey housewives seem to see through the marketing.

nikki99 09-07-2011 09:28 AM

lol at the prices

u-Bob 09-07-2011 09:45 AM

I'm not buying any .xxx domains.

At $200 bucks; this is like paying for 20 years reg at regular price.

JamesGw 09-07-2011 10:12 AM

It's silly.

EddyTheDog 09-07-2011 10:41 AM

So .xxx barely gets a mention on GFY on the day its released....

What a waste of fucking time, effort and money....

TeenCat 09-07-2011 11:05 AM

cooldude7 09-07-2011 11:11 AM

.xxx #fail

PornMD 09-07-2011 11:11 AM

If it had ANY chance whatsoever to succeed as an extension, the pricing killed it.

Rochard 09-07-2011 11:12 AM

What a joke this is....

ottopottomouse 09-07-2011 11:23 AM

Been a small bit on the news part of the radio now where they put a few questions to Lawley - all the answers he gave were about filtering and protecting your kids - and they rushed past the one question where someone had said but it isn't compulsory so means nothing overall.

LAJ 09-07-2011 11:27 AM

Where's all the industry supporters... they should be jumping in this thread.

Just wait for the fake press releases from ICM later this week on the "overwhelming", "incredibly successful", "staggering amount of" fake registrations that they will brag about.

You know it's coming.

:thumbsup

SomeCreep 09-07-2011 12:39 PM

Fuck that bullshit.

CyberHustler 09-07-2011 12:42 PM

What's the purpose of .xxx again? So your sites can easily be filtered? I'm confused...

you could be onto something:2 cents:

seeric 09-07-2011 12:59 PM

The lack of threads on the front page by adult registrars is very telling.

arock10 09-07-2011 01:00 PM

.xxx isnt for the industry lol, its for domainers and to extort copyright holders

CyberHustler 09-07-2011 01:02 PM

Same here. I expected more from them :(

GeorgeK 09-07-2011 02:18 PM

If someone wants to dig up the true number of .xxx registrations, one should sign up for the Zone File Access, see:

http://www.icann.org/en/tlds/agreeme...31mar11-en.htm

Those numbers can't be faked or massaged. :) According to the May 2011 .xxx monthly registry report to ICANN, no one had yet signed up for the zone file access, see:

http://www.icann.org/en/tlds/monthly-reports/

Since the monthly reports are lagged by several months, an enterprising journalist can get a scoop on the real numbers by getting the zone file, as well as a list of the domains that were registered.

kellycash 09-07-2011 04:21 PM

Is it possible for the government (or some organization) to make all porn reside on .xxx for easy filtration, etc.?

Black All Through 09-07-2011 04:25 PM

Depending on how google will treat it, then we will see if it sells or not, as of now......

$110 per domain, non-refundable, just to process an application that may or may not get you a domain. I can't believe people would actually piss money away like this.

dig420 09-07-2011 06:23 PM

well I put all my key domains on the pre-reg list at icmregistry a looooong time ago, including cuckolds, slutwives, interracialsex etc but now I can't log into the site. Also, Moniker is telling me cuckolds and interracialsex aren't available, but slutwives and darkcavern ARE, which tells me that they're not holding cuckolds and interracialsex for me. Shit like this always happens when there might be money on the table, shenanigans. Still waiting to see if icmregistry sends me my password.

I did the same and never received any confirmation email from them and was not able to log into my account since. This was before the prices were released. :upsidedow

During land rush I might just purchase one or two if available, but the value of these domains will depend if they can lobby congress/or whoever has the ability to make .xxx manditory for adult content.

dig420 09-07-2011 06:41 PM

yeah... still waiting on my password. If it's taken this long, I'm guessing they've disabled my account. I don't remember if I paid them any money at that time, do you?

No I did not pay them at the time, the form was to reserve domains...more like a wish list.
I think I requested 25 domains, which included sex, porn, girls, and a slew of Asian and Japanese ones.

marlboroack 09-07-2011 10:52 PM

I think you can make double you money back in 12 months. That's my honest opinion.

yeah, icm really fucked over a number of people (if the .com owners wanted the .xxx version) by selling a good chunk of the premiums to frank shilling before .xxx was even approved.

JFK 09-08-2011 06:45 AM
