I just received this email...

It's from a friend of mine, who often forwards me crazy stuff.

I'm not saying it is true or not, but it seemed interesting enough to share with you crazy GFYers.

Here it is, just as poorly formatted as I received it myself....

OIL - You better be sitting down when you read this !!!!!!

As you may or may not know, Cruz Construction started a division in North Dakota just 6 months ago.
They send every Kenworth (9 trucks) we had here in Alaska to North Dakota and several drivers.
They just bought two new Kenworth's to add to that fleet; one being a Tri Drive tractor and a new 65 ton lowboy to go with it.
They also bought two new cranes (one crawler & one rubber tired) for that division.
Dave Cruz said they have moved more rigs in the last 6 months in ND than Cruz Construction moved in Alaska in the last 6 years.
Williston is like a gold rush town; they moved one of our 40 man camps down there since there are no rooms available.
Unemployment in ND is the lowest in the nation at 3.4 percent last I checked.
See anything in the national news about how the oil industry is fueling North Dakota 's economy?
Here's an astonishing read. Important and verifiable information:
About 6 months ago, the writer was watching a news program on oil and one of the Forbes Bros. was the guest.
The host said to Forbes, "I am going to ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer;
how much oil does the U.S. have in the ground?" Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, "more than all the Middle East put together."
The U. S.. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big.
It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and extreme eastern Montana.
Check THIS out:
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to
eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates
it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable( 5 billion barrels), at $107 a barrel,
we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.
"When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor.
They had no idea.." says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyst.
"This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years," reportsThe Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.'
It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada .
For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end.
Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.
However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves,
and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil,
those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL !!!!!!
That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years straight.
And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from 2006 !!!!!!
U.. S. Oil Discovery - Largest Reserve in the World
Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006
Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world.
It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction.
In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted.
With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?
They reported this stunning news:
We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth.
Here are the official estimates:
8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18 times as much oil as Iraq
21 times as much oil as Kuwait
22 times as much oil as Iran
500 times as much oil as Yemen
and it's all right here in the Western United States !!!!!!
HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy. WHY?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East, more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.
Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, it has to.
Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?
Got your attention yet? Now, while you're thinking about it, do this:
Pass this along. If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time
you complain about gas prices, by doing NOTHING, you forfeit your right to complain.
Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to every one in your address book.

this is absolutely true. they actually had to bring in those trailers FEMA uses to house people after Katrina as they cant build apartment buildings and houses fast enough to provide for the influx of people. the pay is 3x what others receive in similar positions and it is a way out for anyone willing to make the move. downside? the weather and terrain sucks ass. guess that's better than starving though.

I didn't read the whole story... but if I had oil...

I would buy all the oil from other countries (like US is doing now) and when there is no more oil left elsewhere (prices will go up along the way), US has got a monopoly position....

Am I totally wrong here?

marlboroack 10-13-2011 11:12 PM

Why does it feel like i read this as an article before?

Houdini 10-13-2011 11:27 PM

The Bakken isn't anything new. There are a number of companies that are actively drilling, a few large companies, but mostly smaller companies that own a significant amount of acreage, 100K+ acre lots. Every once in I see Cramer on Mad Money talking about Bakken and has CEO's of some of the companies. He hypes it up a lot. There's a shit load of oil there, but let's rape the other countries of theirs first.

Two largest are:
Marathon Oil Corporation (MRO) $69 billion in revenue (Conoco Phillips just bought a stake in them)
EOG Resources (EOG). 7 billion in revenue

My family hit oil on their property in Dakota.

Nope... Not wrong at well... Doing something like that would definitely be one of my strategies...

Sigh...

The Bakken oil rush email thing has been going around for years. It's overly optimistic and the information the original report (intended to sell investments) was based on incomplete information. The USGS actually says there is far less oil there. The most they might be able to recover is about 3 Billion Barrels which sounds great at first, but the US alone drinks up 10 Million every single day. Instead of "fuelling the American economy for 41 years", it wouldn't be enough for even 1 year.

Today, The actual output from Bakken is less than 1 million barrels per day.

CurrentlySober 10-14-2011 12:43 AM

i cant even afford baby oil... :(

Captain Kawaii 10-14-2011 01:05 AM

Even if it were 3 billion we all know Big Oil and their crooked counterparts in DC would find a way to keep oil prices above $100 a barrel simply out of greed and the world market... Instead of Saudis, with Texans help, sticking it to the world, peeps from Montana and Texans, lol will be sticking to everyone including US peeps...those who can still afford cars.
I hope the people in the Dakotas do not mind living on a lunar landscape style wasteland when its all over....If it sucks now it will really suck then.

Jed like WTF?

Barry-xlovecam 10-14-2011 06:43 AM

At $87.11/BBL (the current CRUDE OIL (NYMEX:CL)) why the hell wouldn't they start drilling and pumping some out?

Answer: There is no such thing as a straight oil deal ...
