Government is doing things here that even Nazi Germany didn't do.
There is no republic anymore. But who cares right? Just do your part and be in the best possible state of government servitude you can... at all times. No big deal. Let em step up the tyranny... Soon you'll be able to run your own circus show complete with running pig shockers up your ass... just to impresses your global rulers and put food on your table. Survival of the fittest! |

I'm American, so I think its ok to slap small 3rd world countries around when they don't make my textiles, drill my oil, etc.
I still believe the government is taking it a little too far by trying to police state us however. If pushing around 3rd countries is making terrorists and thereby costing us our freedoms, then I think we'd probably be best off killing those terrorists more efficiently or backing off them until we can (kill them more efficiently), so as not to impinge on our freedoms. |
The militarization of our police and assault on our civil rights has been justified by the drug war. End the war on drugs and let these cops get jobs at Walmart.
|
So now just a second. Obama said he supports the occupy folks... So I would think being the Prez and all. One phone call would make these police nazis settle back down to the heel position real fast. AmIRight?
Why isn't Barry making the call? Where's the news conference? WHAT THE FUCK BARRY? Where's MY 1st Amendment Barry? /rant |

Not sure what grade you're in but the President is not in charge of and has no control over local police forces. |
no it is not a police state however the US does run the risk of becoming one. To keep it in perspective what the police are doing, arresting protesters is definitely not ideal. But Americans can travel inside our borders without being harassed and safely without worry that law enforcement will stop us and question us without probable cause... well except in Tennessee, but that is homeland security and nothing at all to do with a police state :)

Love the typical insecure Internet forum mentality. If you believe the news or are pro American in any way, you're a sheep. If you criticize everything America does, you're unique, and an enlightened thinker! It's trendy to be anti American on the Internet.

Damned right I love America but that does not negate my intellect or silence me when I see wrongs being done in the name of America |

I'm saying That A phone call from Barry to a police chief asking him to "let them be" would more than likely work... Barry has influence I didn't say he was the police chiefs boss. Well until we turn into a police state then all bets are off. |

And "The war on terror" whatever that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, ya it's the war on civil rights. ?Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.? - Ben Franklin. |

I'll give you an example, New Jersey enacted a disorderly persons law: Loitering to obtain CDS(Controlled dangerous substance) Quote:
This law basically gives police the power to violate your fourth amendment right to protection from illegal search and seizure. Philadelphia has enacted similar measures with their "stop and frisk" policy. Implicitly, the message is, make as many stops as possible, and hopefully you'll find something. Read the first part of that law, "wanders, remains or prowls in a public place", that is all the justification a cop needs to jump out on you, slam you on the pavement and search you for guns or drugs. Basically, if you're white and you're in a neighborhood you "shouldn't be in" you're getting stopped and searched. If you happen to be a minority, and you live in the neighborhood, stay in the house. It happened to me walking home from a bar one night. Between my neighborhood and the one I was drinking in is a rougher neighborhood, where, i'll admit, drugs are sold out on the corners. Because I just happened to be white passing through this neighborhood, the cops stopped me, serched me, ran my name through the computers, and then let me go when they realized my story checked out. But what the fuck?! You can't even walk down the street in your own town without getting fucked with. |
That's the difference between reasonable suspicion and probable cause. It's been out there for years but only lately have the courts legitimized the right ...
