frozen pizza

I gotta say I've tried several brands over the years I'm gonna go with Paul Newman's as the very best frozen pizza... just had the cheese pizza with some pepperonis tossed on and baked up in the oven... very, very damn good :thumbsup

if you haven't tried one give it a shot... what are you guys digging in the frozen pizza area???

anexsia 10-31-2011 06:04 PM

I'm trying to remember the name of the company but I used to buy these semi-frozen pizzas and you would make them yourself by just putting on the sauce, cheese, and pepperonis that came in the package and they were SOOOOO good. There's some frozen pizza that is really good and it's hard to beat when you need something quick to eat or don't feel like cooking!

Spunky 10-31-2011 06:11 PM

I like the Dr Oetker .thin crust

J/K never had a really good frozen pizza, closest i think was Dgiornos.

drmadcat 10-31-2011 06:17 PM

i used to buy frozen but buying pizza from dominons/pizza hut/eagle boys is cheaper

Supz 10-31-2011 06:17 PM

That is against Brooklyn code.

brassmonkey 10-31-2011 06:32 PM

if i eat frozen

Mutt 10-31-2011 06:36 PM

how much did it cost and how big was it?

thing about frozen pizza is that you can order one for not much more than the good frozen ones cost.

You can also make a great pizza on the BBQ.

As for frozen, I like those 6 inch No Name pepperoni and cheese pizzas. Haven't had one in about a year, but I'm craving one now.

If I want pizza, I'll usually just put my favoured toppings on a tortilla (tomato and basil is nice) or a pita and bake it till its crispy. Pizza Pizza, Dominos, Pizza Hut is inedible shit. Just fucking horrible.

BIGTYMER 10-31-2011 08:12 PM

California Pizza Kitchen - Signature Pepperoni

By far the best frozen pizza I've ever had.

I second that but I like the Sicilian.
Unfortunately all the stores in my area no longer sell the rising crust which I liked much better than the thin crust.

I used to live in the Bayview Housing Projects right off the Belt Pkwy by the Pier. Had a pizza joint across the street, Splendoras and on Avenue L there was my favorite, Originals Pizzeria. Then by the train station, Armandos had the best Sicilian pizza - used come home from the city on the LL train and dip into Armandos all the time!

Went to Canarsie HS for less than a year. Great neighborhood to grow up in ... great memories!

In San Diego, Bronx Pizza and Pizzeria Luigi are pretty good tho ... as close as I can get to NY Pizza.

Then again, we're talking frozen here so it's all moot :winkwink:

Yep VERY good. Ate them a lot when I lived in Denmark. About $5 for one. I like the pepperoni and ham ones.
Take out from Dominos are at least $30 in DK, Take out from your average Pizza place in DK is $20 because you have to buy a minimum of 2 pizzas.

facialfreak 11-01-2011 06:03 AM

I can't do frozen pizza any more ... I'l gladly pay a few extra bucks for Gigi's in the Pointe Claire Village.

Montrealers know what I mean ...

When we were first together, Chris would eat these every now and then and finally I said I wouldn't buy them or have them in my grocery cart because it makes me looks like a bad wife.

I like Walmart's frozen thin crust Supreme for under 5 bucks. Since it is always close to sold out, I am not alone. :)

They also have a pepperoni with xcheese and a Philly beef one. I keep wanting to try the Philly beef one but I always go for the supreme.

Of course you have to add 8 oz of mozz as well. Then some Paul Prudhomes Pizza and Pasta mix (I like herbal) on the side and some real parm. Altho I go thru that stuff like nuts so I just get the powdered parm. :)

Danny! How about frozen pelmeni?

Vjo 11-01-2011 08:12 AM

As a kid these were both really good but got skimpy and junky on the crust (Roma)

http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/roma.jpg

and in Totinos case, they ditched the real cheese for casein (artificial cheese) and soy meat and became the absolute junkiest frozen pizza in the US. They are not even pizza. They used to be really good like 30 years ago.

http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/totinos.jpg

This is Roma's upper brand (all owned by Bernatellos now days) in which the thin crust is pretty good.

http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/greenmill.jpg

The one I like. There may be better but "for the price" this is a pretty good one.
