had my house broken into

Sat night went to my cousin place to play some cards took my daughter and left my son and wife at home....got back around 430 am to find the door wide open and my 50 TV, computer, HD monitor and some cash was taken.

the scary part is my wife and son were sleeping downstairs...luckly they were not hurt but my computer with all my customers info, taxes, new content we shot is gone without any back ups....

If i was supposed to contact you this week please contact me as i have only the contact listed in my icq but no emails.

_Richard_ 11-01-2011 01:16 PM

very sorry to hear :( glad everyone is safe

MrBottomTooth 11-01-2011 01:18 PM

Happened to me last year. Fucking sucks.

Then I got all my stuff replaced through insurance and 6 months later all my new computers were destroyed by lightning. Had to start all over again.

Do yourself a favour and once you get your shit up and running again look into a good online backup service. I am using mozy.com to protect my financial files, invoices, etc. You get 2GB for free so it is perfect for that.

Vendzilla 11-01-2011 01:19 PM

Damn Glad everyone is OK

Spunky 11-01-2011 01:21 PM

I hate fucking thieves, good to hear the family wasn't harmed by some crack head punks

Jakez 11-01-2011 01:22 PM

Sorry to hear man.

Who really breaks into random houses for electronics though? I know people who have stolen computers and TV's before and it's always someone they know and have hung out with at their house many times but for whatever reason they say "fuck them" one day because they screwed them over or whatever and plan their theft out or sometimes even steal the shit while there's a big party at their house. When I was like 14 my own 'friend' gave me a ride to the movies and while I was there he went back to my house and stole my ps2 and some other crap. :2 cents:

Got any shitty friends that turned to enemies? Or have your TV sitting in front of a big front window?

WarChild 11-01-2011 01:41 PM

Sorry to hear Riggo, I can imagine this situation must to be a hell for ya right now.

brassmonkey 11-01-2011 01:57 PM

that's fucked up

SmutHammer 11-01-2011 02:00 PM

Don't call the police!!!

I had this happen to me while I was on a trip shooting.... I called the police, and the detective made a bunch of comments, in his eyes we were living to good... anyway, instead of going after the thieves he checked into us, and when he found out we did porn, they raided me and I had to go through all that bs..... take it as a loss and rebuild.

glad to hear your family was safe though, maybe get a dog?

What a pain in the ass but no one was harmed in your family so you can still consider yourself lucky.

This is why I'm happy I have a loud dog.

9 times out of 10 people that break into a house for electronics know whats in the house.

That means, family, friend, neighbor or someone working in your place recently.

Pipecrew 11-01-2011 02:21 PM

Statistically they will return. You need this

Dubya 11-01-2011 04:10 PM

VikingMan 11-01-2011 04:14 PM

Yeah a dog does wonders, and a 20 ga with 00 buchshot. Anyone can handle a 20 gauge and still does the job.

thickcash_amo 11-01-2011 04:18 PM

Wow thats awful with your family in the house! I am sorry to hear that happened!! :(

My insurance agent tried to tell me that line. But only been in the house a few months. Only 5 people knew where we lived, all close family. It was Thanksgiving. Lots of people gone for 4 days. There was no cars in the drive (& no garage). Looked in the paper & the police reported about 40 burglaries that weekend within a few blocks. Agent finally admitted he was wrong, when another insured walked in on these guys, who walked out with over $40K in goods & guns.

Yeah they target houses for electronics Left an old Dell, old school TV. But took my MacBook Pro & some gold jewelry. Could tell they were pros. Went through everything fast. As neighbor saw them pull in, thought it was us. I was home about 1/2 your later. Was another hour before I realized anything was wrong. The laptop had been under the bed. Had the curtains closed & living room lights on as the police always tell you to do.

Latter, I saw a suspicious van cruising the street, but the police couldn't get there in time. So they had a van scouting and holding the loot, while the car does the in and out. A couple of weeks later, the police reports stopped. Probably moved on to avoid the cops.

qwe 11-01-2011 04:32 PM

fucking low lives, that shit will catch up to them because they're too stupid to stop...

We have 50 TB of Clonebox customers who would say you can.
Raw video straight from the cam might take a while to upload, though. Better a safe deposit box for some, perhaps, though our deep freeze service world work too.

You could get a wireless external hard drive and put in a safe. You'd have to drill some holes in it :)

ArsewithClass 11-01-2011 05:38 PM

Sorry to hear of your tragic news riggo, glad to hear your wife & child were not in harms way :thumbsup My little sister is in sunny Gran Canaria to wake one night to see a shadow creeping around her flat, lucky that when she woke, the burglar run out of the home & didn't get aggressive :2 cents:

Do you know in the UK... it's gross that if the burglar get's harmed in your home, bitten, scratched or cut from glass or nails, this kind of thing, they can sue & in some cases, have won! One fella lost money to the burglar as he crashed through the skylight & hurt himself on the glass! I hate the law sometimes!

that is pretty fucked up about the laws...the cop told me the best thing to do is call 911 let them know someone is breaking in your house right now and put the phone down and dont hang up...as long as you "sound" like you are in fear for your life or house you can fuck them up

ya definitely, but at least 2 GB for free should be enough to cover most people's financial statements, tax returns, invoices, etc.

After getting robbed I was pissed off enough, just figured I would hide any servers and stuff that I didn't want taken. Then the lightning came. Still haven't prepared myself for the next lightning hit. Only way to do that is something offsite. Or to have backups onsite that you only plug in when you need to update them. Lightning went right through my ethernet cables and destroyed everything connected.

Went with an alarm. You can always set it to be home, but a door or window will trigger. External HD will take them too long to find. New laptop goes everywhere I go. Alarm salesguy said some pros carry Tasers for dogs.

Glad you family is OK. But others here, are also right, anyone you know might do this? Did have a friend get robbed, right after his son brought a friend home. He sold stuff at flea markets and was counting the cash, when they came home. 2 nights later, the bulgary happened.

Pros or friends & family, it still sucks.

u-Bob 11-01-2011 06:30 PM

sorry to hear that.

I fucking hate thieves.

porno jew 11-01-2011 06:35 PM

Bought A 50 Inch TV

was at party and bought it off some tweaked out dude for 50 bucks. where should i put it? the rec room?

Rochard 11-01-2011 06:50 PM

I don't live in fear of being robbed and I've never been robbed, but just as a security feature we have an alarm system. The fear of someone breaking into my house and snatching my kid freaks me out.

alias 11-01-2011 06:57 PM

That sucks man, must feel violated to a degree. Time to tighten up security. Best of luck!
