Any PcBBS veterans remember the Firebat thread?

And if so, did anybody ever save the 'holy text' Firebat thread before PCBBS closed?

Last night at the Vienna show, I asked The Hun about the thread. I couldn't resist. He was curious to see it.

P.s. ..he checked and he had never listed a gallery by somebody called 'Firebat' ..Which, even though I assume he used a different name to submit, was slightly disappointing.

the Shemp 11-05-2011 12:03 PM

its a shame that PC never archived the BBS posts somewhere...

the Shemp 11-05-2011 12:15 PM

i see it on archive.org..
but it cant hotlink it..

cherrylula 11-05-2011 12:19 PM

So man old boards gone gone gone. :(

Yeah it would be cool if the best of were archived somewhere! oh well.

Wagerboy 11-05-2011 12:24 PM

One of the longest threads I think I have seen ever. That board really taught me alot. Was a different time back then tho.

the Shemp 11-05-2011 12:39 PM

Longest lasting for sure..it would be a great industry time capsule.

PCBBS is where I got my start.

Wow that brings back memories. Also, if anyone is interested in buying the old domain let me know. :winkwink:

oscer 11-05-2011 02:01 PM

Thats a Really old one ... I am surprised it was archived

kane 11-05-2011 03:20 PM

Wow. There are some names I haven't seen in a while. It would be kind of funny if after all this time it turned out that Firebat's gallery actually wasn't listed on The Hun. LOL

marlboroack 11-05-2011 03:34 PM

Oh, the start was tame..then as the years went on it got progressively silly.

sexybabe 11-05-2011 06:43 PM

that board is closed? i am also member there some time

Sarah_Jayne 11-05-2011 06:49 PM

The way back machine version of the thread is strange. It is as if people are purged out of it because I went through the 14 pages and my posts aren't in thereat all and I pretty much lived in that thread when it appeared and reappeared. Which, I would assume means other people are also missing from that version. Strange. Though, it is a trip to see names I haven't seen in years.

Dumb ass move to lose all that content. Just think how much search engine food it was and you could have added affialiate links by the millions...literally.

How true. I was pulling 100k a day thro there easy, mostly more. If they kept it up and put large banners or text on there, would be a killing that network..Who knows.:2 cents:

In the case of PCBBS, I can say the good old days actually weren't too bad.

DirtyDreamer 11-06-2011 03:50 PM

I remember that thread along with many others. I still miss that forum.

geirlur 11-07-2011 10:09 AM

Remember the fight between lensman and swedsex? I was trying to find the thread without luck..
that was when lensman bought gofuckyourself.com and it was just a picture on there to "honor" swedsex :)

Actually if you knew the whole story you wouldn't think so, but I'm not going to bring private matters public but you are correct just anything you put on there gets some serious google loving. :winkwink:

Are you suggesting you have a harddrive tucked away somewhere? That would make the value of the domain go up significantly.

If the free sites were on the same domain then I bet they were loaded with lots of stolen content because that was common back in those times. I put my very first adult site up there and I have to shamefully admit that even my site was 100% "public domain" content. I didn't know any better then.

What are you looking for in regards to the domain ballpark figure? Any discounts if I promised to reopen the forum or would that triple the price? ;)

No, just saying that anything you put up on there, Google indexes it very well.

Tempted. I'm sure it has a lot of sentimental value to people. Good luck!

Me, too. Long live the Firebat (if only in my memories...)

Whatever happened to Ulfie? One day we were at the Air Canada Centre watching my Leafs destroy his beloved Penguins, the next day he was gone.

Dave? DAVE?

I loved that place, and I still have the shirt to prove it.
