Joe Paterno Fired

too bad all these bishops and cardinals and the Pope never get fired.

tragic horrific story, Paterno was a great coach and man, made an unforgiveable mistake - when they say football is religion in some places boy they aren't kidding.

Former head coach of Penn State University football for like 200 years. Holds the record for winningest coach in NCAA Division I Football at 409 wins.

Friends with man, who was once on his coaching staff who has been arrested on 40 counts related to sex with 8 minor boys. Turned his head the other way when it was brought to his attention in 2002. Now fired because he felt telling his superior and then forgetting about it was a sufficient response to being told that a member of his coaching stuff was anally raping a 10 year old boy in the Penn State showers, instead of contacting the police.

A great coach and man, indeed! How long did this go on before the useless facillitating piece of shit was finally caught? There is nothing good about him. If he WAS a good man and/or coach, he would have put an end to this shit a decade ago.

Wow. You mention bishops, cardinals, and the Pope not getting fired for the same type of accusations, but you find it sad that this fat lumpy white piece of shit lost his job?

It happens in all organizations that have older men looking after young boys. Religion, sports (not just football - hockey is just as bad if not worse), the Boy Scouts...

I wouldn't be surprised. That's why I was arguing with Slutboat in his thread about whether Paterno would get fired. I really thought to keep the student masses calm, they'd let him finish out the season.

guess you thought wrong

Why do you have to be such a dick about things? I backed up my thought process with valid reasoning in your stupid fucking thread. I also acknowledged that I was wrong in my thoughts about the actions they would take. Yet you still have to be an arrogant prick about it. You don't live here, you don't see or hear everything that is going on. So you saw some kids on tv at JoePa's house, big fucking deal.

By the way, the local news is saying there's a big gathering on campus by students right now....the anchor keeps calling it a gathering, then slipped and said riot, then tried to cover his ass. Just keep watching...this is why I thought they'd let him finish the season, right or wrong.

And I thought I just heard the reporter say that Saturday will be his last game. So, if I heard correctly, he will coach another game.

Edit: The reporter must have been referring to this past Saturday, as he will not coach this Saturday.

These news anchors seem very worried each time they mention the rally by the students going on right now. They all expect a riot...

Paterno has been a figurehead for Penn State for 40+ years. The students, alumni and local PSU fans think he is a football god and can do no wrong. They are already very vocal in their questioning of his firing. I don't see this turning out good on campus.

Read comments on articles about Paterno's firing. You can tell the local PA-ers with their blinders on. They think he did everything he could to protect the children by reporting the incident to his superiors.

Quote from the Trustees "We don't know all the facts", but you are going to fire your head football coach based on the court of public opinion. You just admitted that you don't know everything. Maybe you should wait for the legal process to unfold before you start making any decisions that effect people's lives. We just took a huge step back as a country by this decisions. You can be outraged all you want by my comment but the only facts we know are this. Sandusky was not even on Paterno's staff in 2002 when these allegations were brought to his attention by a graduate assistant. Paterno, knowing that this did not involve him, did his part by referring it up to his superiors who take care of campus matters. This is where the alleged cover-up began. Those are the only facts that we really know. All of the evidence will be presented in the court of law and he will be found either innocent or guilty of the charges.

He will NOT ever coach another game.

I will tell you why I am a dick about this - this is a sleazy conspiracy to enable a child rapist predator to fuck kids for over a decade, and Paterno is the MOST guilty because he was the most powerful... those students are dumbfucks for supporting him, and anyone who thinks he should (or WOULD) be able to coach again is just as fucking stupid.

His actions are criminal, he should be indicted and go to jail.

I agree, and have agreed with everything you said there from the start. My issue is you being a dick about how I thought they would handle it. I admitted I was wrong, but I am truly surprised the board grew some balls. But you don't have to pop into every thread and go "I told you so!"

knocking your buddies beer over at a party... thats a mistake.
forgetting to send your mom flowers on Mothers day, forgiveable but horrible mistake.

anything involving knowing 10 year old children are being molested and not going to police is NOT A MISTAKE.

NaughtyVisions 11-09-2011 09:15 PM

Oh to, further add to the character of these students that I fear will riot, there's published reports now of students at PSU joking that they've been "Sundaskied" or that someone "Sundaskied" someone else. A lot of them think this whole thing is a joke.

Pretty fucking sad.

Sandusky taken into custody:

I see that the Penn State University President (who also was not indicted), was fired as well.

The saddest part is that their may be other similar cases out there. When the first priest abuse cases came up, no one predicted that there would be thousands of more cases yet to be exposed.

However, calling attention to the issue, and letting victims know that it is okay to finally speak up, is what caused the floodgates to open, and the necessary punishment and reforms to be administered (although this process still continues).

Hopefully, this will serve as an example to others, that not only will such abuse not be tolerated, but that people in positions of authority have a duty to do all in their power to protect vulnerable young people whom are looking to them for guidance and support (and not the legal minimum, simply to protect their own asses).

It is common knowledge that Slutboat is severely mentally ill. You should not take him to heart. He pops in occasionally on GFY and goes on various rampages until he loses his computer privileges again at the institution where he is housed. He is basically only dangerous to himself so there is no need to be alarmed.

This past Sunday, my local newspaper ran that photo with the headline "A Fallen Hero." I was so pissed that they would refer to a man charged with molesting 8 young boys a hero in any capacity that I fired off a letter to the editor, questioning why they would consider a pedophile a hero, and pointing out that most think of fallen heroes as those who die serving their country. Calling a predator a fallen hero because he was a good football catch is a slap in the face of those who truly fit that description. My letter got published. Today in the mail someone sent me a clipping of my published letter, with simply the word "Great" written at the top of it.
